  1. Dear Ken and family,
When Marge’s sister, Rita, married Ken 12 years ago, we admired the close relationship he had with his siblings. Ken’s family welcomed Rita into this closeness. We are saddened by the loss you are all feeling at this time. The world and especially his family and friends just lost a very special person. You all are in our thoughts and prayers.
    Love,
    Marge and Emil

  9. I enjoyed getting to know Mark over the past year at various local road races, and was shocked and saddened to see his name this morning in the obituaries. I spent quite a while talking with him at the 5K at Frontier Field last month, and he gave me some great tips for running the upcoming NYC marathon, which he said that he was also planning to run. This fall will be my first NYC, and I’ll be thinking of Mark as I run it. He was a wonderful guy who was also an inspiration to me as a runner. My sincerest condolences to his entire family. He will be missed.

  10. I was greatly saddened to read of Mark’s passing. I did not know him well, but as a fellow runner in the same age group we occasionally chatted after races. We had a very nice conversation after the Perinton July 4th race and I was hoping to get to know him better. He seemed like a great guy and of course was a phenomenal runner. I’ll miss him. My condolences to his family.

  11. Liz, I am so sorry to hear about your husband. I know so well the grief you are feeling as I lost my husband five years ago. May loving memories comfort you. I am sending you a big hug.

  14. Mark,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time. I hope many good memories bring you comfort and remind you that your father’s spirit shines on. He was an inspiration to all runners and will continue to guide you through the finish line no matter where you are in life. Were always here for you.

  15. My deepest sympathies to Liz and the family. Though I only met Mark a couple of times, those were very pleasant. As a runner myself, I admire his accomplishments. He will be missed.

  17. Our neighborhood will never be the same without dear Mark. His gentle smile, his kind and loving heart and his love for his wonderful family was to be admired. He came from the most wonderful Irish family we know and we pray that the Lord bless his soul with peace and joy until we meet again in heaven. Our hearts are saddened for your incredible loss dear Liz, Mark Jr., Sarah and all the wonderful Barry and Oberrecht family. We are honored to have called him friend and dearly loved him. Mark will always be with all of us as he wrote such beautiful memories in our hearts. God bless and keep you all close in his care. His light will shine forever.

  18. Sincerely very sorry to hear about cousin Mark’s sudden passing. Though it’s been many years since I saw Mark and his family, I knew him to be a sweet and thoughtful guy — my heart goes out to his wife, children, brothers and sister. My prayers and sympathy to all of you. . .
