Gates: Peacefully, Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at age 78, in the presence of his family. Predeceased by his parents, John & Mabel Donaldson; brothers, James & Frederick Donaldson. He is survived by his cherished wife of 53 years, Shirley (Coleman) Donaldson; loving children, Colleen Donaldson (Andrew Saul), Cindy Donaldson, Kevin (Karen) Donaldson & Cheryl (Don) Damuth; dear grandchildren, Tracy Brankline, Trisha Damuth, Donnie Damuth, Ryan Damuth, Pat Donaldson & Dave Donaldson; honorary grandson, Emil Okanovic of Bosnia; his little sweetheart great-granddaughter, AlySandra Rivera; sister, Barbara (John) Seniuk; brother, V. Robert (Joan) Donaldson of Mission TX; brothers-in-law, Franklin (Angie) Coleman & William (Shirley) Coleman of Lorena TX; sisters-in-law, Mary Donaldson, Rose Coleman & Joan Coleman of Elm Mott TX; many nieces and nephews; numerous friends. Floyd will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Floyd is a Veteran of World War II and served n the U.S. Coast Guard. He is also a Xerox retiree. Throughout his life, Floyd was involved in many Veteran groups and was Past Chef de Gare of the Voiture 111 of the 40 & 8; Past Commander of the Monroe County American Legion Honor Guard and member of the American Legion Post #468. He was also a past member of the Genesee Conservation League, the Brockport Conservation Club and the Flying Arrow Club. Floyd was a NYS Hunter Safety Course Instructor for many years and he enjoyed his time bowling in the Friday Senior Men's League at Dom Brothers and volunteering at St. Theodore's Food Cupboard. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staff of Unity Hospital, 3300 Wing, for the exceptional care and compassion they and Floyd received over the past month. Friends may call Friday 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday 9:30 A.M. at St. Theodore's Church, 168 Spencerport Road, Rochester, NY 14606. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Those wishing may make contributions to St. Theodore's Food Cupboard in his memory.

  7. Dear Aunt Shirley and Family,

    I am so sorry for your loss. I know it is a very difficult time for all of you. Please know that down here in Texas we are all thinking about you and praying for you. I hope it is some comfort to you to know that Uncle Floyd and my dad as well as other relatives are in the same place now and I am sure they are visiting and carrying on with each other. I remember Uncle Floyd when he came down here; he was very nice to all of us as Aunt Shirley is. We will continue to pray for you and will keep you all in our thoughts.

Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Donaldson, I felt I knew him through his family. Particularly his daughter Cheryl, her daughter Trisha and their family. Having always heard wonderful things about Mr. Donaldson, I can understand how much you will miss him. May God bless you all and give you strength in these difficult times.
