Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute

The family of William “Bill” Glenney of Greece, NY,  is deeply saddened to announce his passing on January 30, 2026. A man of unwavering ethics and deep kindness, Bill lived a life defined by generosity and a genuine care for those around him.  His presence brought warmth and connection to everyone he encountered.

Born on April 19, 1934 in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, he was the son of William and Ruth (Reinert) Glenney and brother of Gary Glenney.  He was an alumnus of The Hill School and Lafayette College, both of which nurtured his lifelong curiosity and dedication to learning.

Bill had a career as a sales engineer and worked at Leeds and Northrup, Honeywell and AFTA Controls. Before and during retirement, Bill had many diverse interests. He found joy in photography, scuba diving, genealogy, solving crossword puzzles, and the sport of curling.  He was a member of the Instrument Society of America (ISA) and gave many years of service to the Boy Scouts of America. His stories, rich with family history and a love for life, are a lasting gift to all who knew him.

He will be lovingly remembered by his sons Bill (Melissa), Andrew, and Sean Glenney; his daughter, Jane (Earl) Schenck; his seven grandchildren Alyssa, Dylan, David, Katie, Emma, Breanna, and Parker. He also leaves behind his nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of dear friends. Bill is now peacefully reunited with his bride of 54 years, Jane (Noble) Glenney, who predeceased him in 2015.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held in June. To honor Bill’s memory, the family suggests donations to your local PBS station (WXXI in Rochester) or the Greece Historical Society.
