Wood, Willet (Woody) Greece, NY: entered into rest Saturday, August 19, 2017. He is predeceased by his wife Elinor and his son Richard Smiley. Survived by his daughter-in-law Kathleen Smiley, granddaughter Karen (Mike) Swedick and his grandson Rick (Liz) Smiley of Charlotte, NC and great grandchildren, Alyssa, Camryn, Madison, Ella, Lydia, and Abram. He was a veteran of World War II. His Memorial Service will be held Friday (August 25th) 10:00 AM in the chapel of Vay-Schleich and Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road, Rochester, NY. Private Internment, White Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, Lake Norman, N.C. in his memory. Condolences on the passing of Woody. I met Woody in the late ’60s on a fishing trip to Quebec. We struck up a friendship that lasted many years. He shared fishing tips with me we shared stories over the years. I visited him and Elinor a number of times. One special memory is his teaching me to make my own fishing rods.
