To the White family, Your mother & grandmother was a cherished neighbor. Her gardens were labors of love. Her front door decorations allowed us to bravely copy her tread setting color schemes. When Vi was out and about there always interesting conversations. We watched her age gracefully as she became the sole “original long term neighbor” who shared the history of building our neighborhood. Fondly, Kathy & Gary Battaglia

Mrs White (as I always remembered Viola while growing up) was such a dear lady and wonderful neighbor! Her smile and sense of humor was so warming and I loved how she was so positive. She was so kind to all of us neighborhood kids, even when I whacked Renee in the face with a Reed from back lot 🙂 I would of loved to see her again, to thank her for all the joyful memories growing up.

VIOLA WHITE was a beloved member of W.I.S.E. (Women Involved Seeking Enrichment) since 1978. Formerly the Aurelia Hillman Sanders YWCA Chapter in Greece, the name “WISE” was formally adopted by its 35 members late 1970. Our group combined fun sisterhood with community service programs. Only 7 members remain. Vi was an active supporter and participant in all our activities – often sharing her artistic gifts with teaching presentations, and hosting us in her lovely home (where every corner was a conversation piece!) I will personally miss my dear friend — her wit, glamour, wisdom and affection.

We’ll always appreciate Vi’s wonderful personality, fun sense of humor, generosity, creative artwork, sewing, floral arranging and gardening.
She was a gracious hostess, thoughtful friend, devoted wife, loving mother and a doting grandmother who was thrilled to be a great-grandmother to Layla. A one-of-a kind role model for enjoying life.
We will miss our special friend of 50 years, 29 of which were as next-door neighbors. Our heartfelt condolences and love goes to the entire extended family.
