Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute
Hilton: passed peacefully with his wife, Cathy, by his side on the morning of Monday, Oct. 27, 2025.
Tim was a loving husband, a thoughtful father, and an extraordinary and proud grandpa. While he had a knack for telling it like it was, he wore his emotions on his sleeve and would never allow anyone he knew to go without. Those who knew him describe him as a caring and selfless man with just a smidge of ‘mob boss’ in him.
After his family, Tim was most proud of his work. Tim spent more than 40 years in the automotive industry. He started out as a mechanic busting tires at Terry Turner Tire, and eventually became a respected service manager at Vanderstyne Ford. Later, he became service manager at Vanderstyne Toyota (now West Herr Toyota of Rochester) where he spent the last 25 years before retiring in May.
At the dealership, he was known for being honest, compassionate, and fair. Under his leadership, the store continuously ranked as one of the top stores in Toyota’s New York Region, often winning service excellence — a recognition Tim was always proud to achieve.
Tim became well-known at the Toyota New York Region corporate office in West Caldwell, NJ. He became lifelong friends with many Toyota employees who call him ‘a legend.’
Tim enjoyed spending time with his wife. In his free time, he could be found taking care of his yard, working on home projects, throwing the ball for his trusted and loyal canine companion Woody, or cheering on one of his grandkids. For the last three years, he helped his grandson Timmy become Cub Scout Pinewood Derby champion. He could never slow down; he always felt best when he as doing something. After retirement, over the summer, he took on a side gig mowing a lawn for someone who needed help.
Born Oct. 17, 1959 in Henrietta, TX, he is survived by his faithful wife of 43 years, Catherine; son Charles (Brooke); daughters Jessica and Lisa (Christopher) Kirchbaum; grandchildren Camryn, Emma, Carson, Timmy, and Kyla; his mother, Carolyn Peevey; siblings Sandra (Don) Weagley; Cynthia (Wade) Ingerick; Hugh Gaspar (Rich Engom); Johnnie (Natalie) Peevey; and Wendy Cymerman; in-laws Michele Rudak (Harold Goode); Joyce (Chuck) McGarry; several other in-laws; many nieces and nephews; friend Gerald “Jay” Vanderstyne Jr. He is predeceased by his loving grandparents Hugh and Dorothy Elliott; father JW Peevey; brother William Rivera; father-in-law Lawrence Lovall; mother-in-law Diane Lovall.
Special thanks to the staff of the General Medicine Unit (7.3600) and the Palliative Care Unit (4.1200) at Strong Memorial Hospital for caring for Tim in his final days.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of Tim’s favorite charities in his memory: either Tunnel 2 Towers at t2t.org or to Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org.
Friends may call Thursday (Oct 30th) 4 – 7 PM at Vay Schleich & Meeson, 1075 Long Pond Road, Greece. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday (Nov 1st) 10:00 AM in the chapel of Vay Schleich & Meeson. Interment to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
