Rochester: Thursday, January 29, 2026. Tom is the loving husband of Charlotte, his wife of 53 years; proud father of their 5 children, Christopher, “The Twins” Michael, Joseph “Joey” (Rebecca), Ashley (Ethan), and Kerri (Shawn); 11 grandchildren, Joey, Chris, Tommy, Sammy, Lissa, Kileigh, Lily, Alex, Vivi, Lincoln, Luna and number 12 is on the way! All of whom have been an important part of his life. Tom’s siblings, Donald, Samuel, Jimmy, Sheryl (Ewald), George, Pam (Valinsky) and Billy.
In 1973, Tom started his baking career at Interstate Bakery, Buffalo Road, Rochester New York. Interstate sent Tom to Manhattan, Kansas to school for 6 months to learn The Science of Baking. At the same time Charlotte was home with three (3) babies under the age of 4! Wegmans brought Tom on board as Bakery Production Manager in 1981, sending him all over the world to explore the Wide World of Baking. He and his team, Ron Godin, Dave Schneider, Diane DiStafano, Joe Lippens (deceased), Paul Nowaki (deceased) worked closely with Ron Danko (deceased), the Bakery Director, to create the innovative bakery concepts for which Wegmans is Famous.
Tom had Four (4) loves- his family, cars, sports, and Wegmans! He had been known a time or two to hug and kiss his Red 1967 GTO, doing the same to his 1957 Red Thunderbird- both convertibles. Enclosed vehicles were for the winter!
Tom will be missed by many including, Karl Love, Ronnie Godin, Diane DiStafano, Stephanie Johnson and Jake Kennedy.
Friends may call Thursday (Feb 5th) 4-7 PM at Vay-Schleich and Meeson, 1075 Long Pond Road, where his Prayer Service will follow calling at 7:00 PM. Private Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Tom, I’ll forever remember and draw strength from your will to fight with humor and zero complaints, though I knew you were hurting. Love you, forever your sister, Sheryl
I owe my career and so much more to Mr. Hogan. He looked out and took care of me when he had no reason too. He was a good man & I will miss our conversations. May he rest easy & his family be at peace. My sincerest condolences
Thank you for always making me smile. While I certainly will miss you and your amazing cars driving down our street on a warm wonderful day. Thank you for the fond memories of the times Kerry and Gia spent with you.
You were certainly a warm. Gentle and humble man. You will be missed.

I’m so very sorry to hear of Tom’s passing. He was my boss for 40 years. He always treated me with respect. I always enjoyed our conversations we had. He was the smartest guy I knew in the industry. My condolences to his family and friends. RIP Tom.
