Greece: Friday, January 18, 2013 at the age of 83 years. Thomas went to be with the Lord at the Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Dorothea; parents, Elda (John Palmbach) and George Schommer; 2 brothers, Richard and Paul. Survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Carla & Patrick Wright and Linda & Joseph Chiappone, and his son and daughter-in-law, Mark & Deborah; sister, Susan (Walter) Drechsel; sisters-in-laws Nancy and Ione Schommer; 3 grandchildren, Katherine (Jeremy) Cortash, Stephanie and Matthew Wright; step-granddaughter Sondra (Mike) LeDuc; several nieces and nephews; and many caring friends. Thomas retired from Eastman Kodak in 1986 after 28 years; served his country in the Air Force and Naval Reserves. He was a dedicated community volunteer with many organizations including the Greece Historical Society, Greece Central School Board, Holy Name of Jesus Church, Greece Chamber of Commerce, and WGMC Radio station. Thomas’ visitation will be held Friday, January 25th from 4-7 PM at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road; Greece Chapel. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 26th at 10:00 AM at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 15 Saint Martins Way, Rochester, NY 14616. Entombment will follow Mass in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center, 2652 Ridgeway Avenue, Rochester, NY 14626 or Greece Historical Society, PO Box 16249, Rochester, NY 14616 in Thomas’ memory.

    Please know that my family and I will be be thinking of you and praying for you all during this difficult time. Uncle Tom was my last living uncle, and I will miss him terribly!!     Carla, Linda and Mark,

    We are so sorry for the loss of your father. I have thought about ‘Uncle Tom’ often and had meant to call him just last week but didn’t get around to making the call. I now deeply regret this. He will be greatly missed. I hope you can at least take comfort in knowing he is again with Dot and his brothers who all loved him very much.
