Greece: Hitting the road again with his charm and wit, Dad passed away surrounded by love on Monday, June 2, 2014 to join his wife and love of his life for 61 years, Lorraine; his infant son, Douglas; his parents, Harry and Elsie Goldstein. Survived by his son, Gary (Donna) Goldstein; daughters, Karen (Ken) Bennett, Debra (Greg) May, Doreen Lapa (James Piano), Laurie (David) Santarossa; proud grandfather who loved to play cards with his grandchildren, Lisa, Jason, Carrie, Nicole, Derek, Owen, Jessica, Aidan and Kendall; thrilled to be a great-grandfather to Tyson, Jack and Ellie; loving brothers and sisters; a friend to all. Sidney shortened his name to ‘Sid’ to his friends and co-workers as a young man and always worked hard for his parents on the several farms his dad, Harry sharecropped on. He always had a love for farms and animals to the day he left this earthly life. As a young man, he became a professional truck driver and entrepreneur. He had a moving company business with many colorful stories in the 1950s. He returned to trucking and in the late 1960s started a pallet recycling and repair business and was very successful even after losing everything in a barn fire, including 6000 pallets! He returned to trucking in his final working years at Genesee Brewery and St.Joe’s paper company, where he gained the CB handle of ‘Silver Fox’ for the fleet of drivers from all over the country. His family was everything to him including his 2 sons, Douglas, who passed away as an infant and Gary along with his daughters Karen, Debbie, Doreen and Laurie. His son-in-laws Ken, Greg and Dave. Doreens longtime friend, Jimmy. His daughter-in-law, Donna, who was always referred to as his 5th ‘daughter’. Many Grand-children and Great Grand-children who he loved dearly. Sid is also survived by sisters, Judy (Michael) Herron, Shirley Negrin and Annette Rockoff and brothers Abe Goldstein, Bernard (Ellen) Goldstein and Marvin(Charlotte) Goldstein. ‘Happy Trails to you, Until we meet again!’ Friends may call Thursday, June 5th 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road, Greece Chapel. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 6th 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment, White Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Unity Health Foundation in his memory. For more information or to sign Sidney’s online guestbook please visit www.MeesonFamily.com.

We are so sorry for the loss of Uncle Sid – I was telling mom about the first time Dave and I were in a bar. Uncle Sid took us to our first bar in Avon when we were just 16 yrs old – he will be missed very much.
