Always smiling, always cheerful, happy and excited about life and all people. Uncle Sam,( and Aunt Gilda-) were always happy when they had a big bunch of family at their house on holidays, and they would be cooking together, making the sauce, tables and people everywhere! Uncle Sam would always be happy to see you and catch up on family news, even if it had been a while between visits as we all got older. Uncle Sam and Aunt Gilda made so many happy memories for us all-and I will cherish every one! I remember my Dad telling us when we were young that Uncle Sam was truly a war hero, and for that we should always be grateful. A very special man who raised a large and wonderful family, of which he was very, very proud- and had certainly earned the right to be proud! Thanks, Uncle Sam, for making all our lives better for having known you. Please take our love with you to Grandma, Grandpa, and all the Desino Aunts and Uncles up there in Heaven- I know you are all having a wonderful reunion- we will all be together again one day!!! With love, your niece Debbie Kiley
My deepest sympathies to all of you! Mr. Latone was one of my dad’s (Tony Cavuto) dearest friends and as couples, our parents spent much time together over the years. After my parents moved to New Jersey, there was hardly a visit back home that did not include breakfast with him, Lou Muchard and others. In more recent years, Sam was one of my dad’s regular phone calls every couple of weeks. His face lit up whenever he talked with him. When my dad passed in 2015, Sam was so kind, sympathetic and concerned about my mom. I would like to believe our fathers are sharing a few laughs together again. Thinking of you and wishing you peace in the days and weeks ahead.
