Sorry for the pain you are feeling, Sam was a great man. Wish I had gotten to see him again, my upcoming visit to Rchester being a month to late. Joan- you will continue being the strong woman you have always been.

Dear McGuire family and loved ones, I believe ‘Sam’ is in God’s hands now… and there’s no sadness, pains or sorrows there. Although Alzheimer may have ravished the mind for some time, near the end of his life, I sensed Sam ‘knew for certain’ family and friends were at his bedside. Now, just like then and before, Sam is not alone… just called home before us. I met and worshiped with the McGuire family at St. Bridget’s Church, Rochester, New York, in 1986. Sam touched lives beyond our close-knit church family… long after Mass Services had ended. I am forever grateful to Sam, Joan and their children… who shared their ‘family love’ with my young family. The McGuire family showed their love through caring, and supporting a husband and a father… to share some of his time to mentor a young boy… my son, Andre. Andre no longer had a father-figure in his life. I had not remarried. Sam and Andre were able to share male bonding time together, and that was something I, as his mother, could not do quite the same way. My feelings for the McGuire family remains strong to this very day. The world would be so much better a place… with more people like the McGuire family in it! Let not your hearts be too heavy mourning, or your eyes soaked with tears. Keep our joyful memories of Sam when we think of him. If you know any, may the infinite meanings behind songs of old Negro spirituals created during times people prayed for peace of mind, body and soul… now offer you comfort, peace and strength to continue forward. 🙂

    Sincerely, Kathy Davis

Cathy and I are deeply saddened by the news of Sam’s passing. We learned about this unfortunate news as we celebrate our thirteenth wedding anniversary! On April 21, 2001 Sam and Joan witnessed our special day, representing St. Bridget’s Church family. Sam and Joan we continue to treasure your love and support over the years despite our regrettable failure to keep in touch and show our gratitude. May Sam’s soul and all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen! Joan may you draw comfort in the knowledge that Sam is in Our Heavenly Father’s merciful arms. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. May you be blessed with the peace of the Easter Season. Cathy and Aman
