Greece: Thursday, February 11, 2010. Age 91. Survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Gordon W. Oakes; her daughter, Nancy Skivington; her son and daughter-in-law, Marshall K. and Christine Oakes; her grandchildren, Michelle (Jeremy) Neitzel, Marshall G. (Angela) Oakes, Michael R. and Lesa Oakes, Erin Skivington (Michael Heuer) and David Skivington (Christine Jackson); Great-grandchildren, Matthew Yackel, Alexis Neitzel, Dylan and Haley Oakes. Ruth played and taught piano and organ, played at Supper Clubs and parties. She was a member of Jazz-Ragtime International and Bethany Presbyterian Church. Friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service, Saturday at 10:30 in the Chapel of Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Hme, 1075 Long Pond Road. ( No prior calling hours). Entombment, Rierside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make contributions to the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220.

    Ruth, it was wonderful to be sitting with you and Gordy at your grandsons wedding you made us feel like part of the family. We will never forget the fun we had that night. You will be missed and our payers will be with you and your family.
