Roy Frank Lomicka

Rochester: Born November 11, 1926 in Latrobe, Pa; passed Sunday, August 30, 2026 at age 99

Roy was dedicated to his beloved wife Helen to whom he was married for 60 years. He loved his family, served his church faithfully, and honored his country through military service.

Predeceased by his wife, Helen; his parents, Harry and Gertrude Lomicka; his siblings, Harry (Rita) Lomicka, Marjorie (Richie) Carfang, Shirley Lomicka, Phyllis (Mike) Rubala, Irene (Bud) Murrman, Charles Lomicka; Diane French. Survived by his children, Roy, Jr. (Barbara), Susan Burns (Carl), Jeffrey (Cricket); his grandchildren, Kristin Lomicka (Hector Sillero-Bernal), Brian Lomore (Jackie), Dustin Burns (Melissa Castillo), Andrew Burns (Allison); his great grandchildren, , Nate Burns, Molly Burns, Flora Lomore; his sister, Nancy (Larry) Haynes; sister-in-law, Cheryl Lomicka; brother-in-law, Roy French and several nieces and nephews.

Roy was a proud Army veteran. World War II Army veteran, 1945 – 1947 2nd Lt.; Korean conflict Army veteran, 1951 – 1953 1st Lt. CE; receiving World War II Victory Medal; Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Campaign Stars and the United Nations Service Medal.

Roy was a 1951 graduate of Carnegie Tech, Pittsburgh, Pa, with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He was employed at Eastman Kodak Company from 1953 to 1983 in the area of Applied Behavioral Sciences.

Roy loved photography and chronicled his life with 35mm slides, and later with yearly photo albums, sharing prints with family and friends. Yearly vacations to Virginia Beach were a particular pleasure for him. He also enjoyed trips to Hawaii and Europe with Helen.

After retirement Roy began an earnest endeavor to become a good golfer, attending golf school, and twice weekly golf outings. He achieved two holes-in-one during his 37 years of golfing.

Also after retirement Roy enjoyed a weekly breakfast out with former coworkers and friends, Len Gartland, Len Lyons, Martha and Mark Dieter, Lori Kibler, and Joanne Chapman.

Roy was a faithful member of Bethany Presbyterian Church for 70 years. He enjoyed singing in the choir for over 50 years.

Friends may call Wednesday (Sept 9th) 4-7 PM at Vay-Schleich and Meeson, 1075 Long Pond Road. His Funeral Service will be held Thursday (Sept 10th) 10:00 AM at Bethany Presbyterian Church, 3000 Dewey Avenue. Entombment, Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany Presbyterian Church, Rochester, NY in his memory.
