Dear Bea – we don’t know if you will remember us from our RIT days but we wanted to express our heartfelt sympathy and let you know we share your sorrow. I remember you and we remember Dicks warm smile and the twinkle in his eye – the picture in the paper looks just like the Dick we remember from our RIT days. Wishing you serenity, Judi (Hinchliffe) and John Sturge

Dear Bea, Rick, Robin and family, we are so sorry to learn of your loss. Our memories of Dick at Kevin’s house are ones full of a lot of laughter. Whenever Dick was there, we were sure to be the recipient of a great story! Now, with the passing of another Schantz, the world is just a bit dimmer. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all.

Dick Schantz was one of my Dad’s dearest friends. They worked at Kodak Park together, but my Dad was alot older than Dick. When my Dad was sick, (1977), Dick was always there for him. My Dad loved Dick, and I remember meeting him, and always hearing such wonderful things about him, many many times… I am sure they are catching up on alot of stuff right now. May the spirit of the Lord, bring you all comfort now……………….Sincerely, Eileen Dolan, Edward Dolan’s daughter

I didn’t know Dick personally, or even know his name, but I would see him often at the Y, and he was always so friendly and he always had a smile on his face. I am sorry for your loss, my condolences to all of you.

I was saddened to read of Dick’s passing in this mornings newspaper. I worked as an engineer in Building 135 from 1976 until 1997 when I retired. My relationship with Dick was limited to project review meetings. I looked forward to those meetings because the experience was always certain to end on a positive note. Dick always had a smile on his face and a sparkle in his eye that was sure to make those around him feel at ease in his presence. I certainly respected Dick as a person and a leader. As an aside I remember meeting Dick many years ago in 1954 or 1955. The meeting occurred on Plymouth Ave. near Immaculate Conception Church. Dick was with a friend who he introduced to me and my friend. I shook hands with Dick’s friend and the next thing I knew I was laying on my back. It turned out that Dick’s friend was skilled in the art of Judo and I became the recipient of his skill. I was not injured but my pride was a little bruised. I recall that Dick was very amused at the surprised look I must have had on my face. That was how I remember first meeting Dick. I did not see Dick again until 1976 when I began to work in Building 135. Even though it was over 20 years since I last saw Dick he was still the same friendly and outgoing person he was as a teenager. My sincere sympathies to his family. Frank E. Augonis

My deepest sympaty to you Bea and your families. He was such a fine man, loving family and life. I recall the many good times we had growing up together at West High School. We were in many classes and sports over those high school years. Used to meet him in front of my house on Columbia Ave and we would walk together to West High. Esxcept for those days when I over-slept. I wll remember him and miss him greatly.
