My brothers, Mike and John, and I often speak about Mr. Lutz when we get together. A few years ago, when the Driving Park Wegman’s was still open, I would occasionally see him there and we’d speak for awhile. Mike used to see him and I know that John bumped into him at least once during the last two years while taking a walk with his wife. There were always two Mr. Lutz’s for all of us. I remember his mom and Gloria but I never really knew Gloria – a pretty woman but older than me. Richard’s father was known for how well he maintained his property and Richard took those tasks over. Always pleasant to the eleven Best kids, he was an excellant neighbor through the years. We always think of all the Lutz’s as class – not just because they gave out nickel candy bars on Halloween – they did! – but because they were wonderful neighbors. I would guess that Gloria’s kids are the same way. JIM BEST

Richard was my next door neighbor for the past 30 years. I will miss seeing him out in the yard tending to his beloved furry and feathered friends.

We knew Richard, through my Uncle Paul Nasso, his neighbor of many years. I remember all the times seeing him feeding the birds. He always took time to ask me about Paul. Our deepest sympathy for your loss.

Years ago, I had the pleasure to talk on the phone with Mr. Lutz about a young, pregnant cat he had rescued and brought to Pet Pride of New York in Victor. He was concerned for her welfare, and Pet Pride was his choice because it is a ‘life only’ shelter. I fostered ‘Trudy’ until her kittens were 8 weeks old, and the little family went to Pet Pride, where they all found homes. I have fostered hundreds of cats, and talked to even more people about cats, and Mr. Lutz remains in my memory as a special person. My sincere condolences on your loss of this loving man.
