I remember your yard always being prestine, we would pull up on our bikes to see Ant and we would always make sure we were quiet and on our best behavior lol. I remember thinking man he’s strict but he’s always so nice to me, probably because my mother would take care of you at Antonetta’s lol or maybe because I just knew better. To The Richard D’Imperio Family. I was crushed to hear of your Father’s passing. As you know, your Dad was a big part big part of my life. Working together at Engine 11 & Truck 3, and throughout all our years, we remained close friends. Dickie, has truly left his mark on us all. If I were to try to write all the laughs we had together, and the times we shared , both happy and sad, both good and bad, it would take forever. Dickie, always made me smile. I will never forget your Dad, he was a true friend. He was one of a kind, and all of you have much to be proud of. I will always in my memories of your Dad, remember him, with much love and respect. 28. Michael Bialaszewski on July 14, 2020 at 6:15 am

I met Dickie many years ago, he asked if I was interested in working with him at a local rock and mineral show. We’d have a "planning meetings" at a restaurant on Lexington, a place long gone. From that point forward I learned of his dedication to the RFD and admiration to the RPD. In fact I have never met anyone more dedicated or supportive of both the Bravest and Finest of Rochester NY. Some may not know (and he liked it that way) that he would tend the small garden by the Officer Memorial in front of the PSB and that he always had it looking good for ceremonies. His long list of service to his community in his obituary does not surprise. I do not believe there will be one like him again. My sympathy to his family and please know that you will be in my famly’s good thoughts and prayers.

It has been my privilege to enjoy his friendship since then. Thus, I share your grief and sense of loss. To me, Dick personified the ideal in responsible citizenship. His civic-mindedness and his willingness to get personally involved in projects for the good of our community have benefitted all who make Rochester their home. Dick’s passing is a loss to the whole community. Please accept my deepest sympathy. Pastor and Retired Deputy Chief Sammie Drayton Sr.

Dicki D and me had a great association on the R.F.D. he was always a very dependable firefighter. If I asked h to do something I never had to check to see if it was done. I always looked forward to seeing his smiling face when I walked into the fire house at Eng. 2 I know God will keep him in the palm of his hands. Tim, you and your brother take care, and watch each other’s back. Take care of your men and they will take care of you as supervision is a mutual respect between the supervisor and the supervised. Dick…Its hard to believe that just a week and a half ago we were having coffee. I so will miss, as I did this past year, our nightly coffee at WAWA’s in Florida. I was at the barber shop today and couldn’t help thinking of you looking at your plaque hanging there. It also brought back the memory of Nick, you and me getting our haircut by John on my deck. You are a great person to have known, a little opinionated but that is one of the things that will bring a smile in our coffee group as we remember the good times, according to Dick. RIP my friend.

  51. Bud Phillips on July 16, 2020 at 6:04 am

Anthony and Tim….. Your dad was very proud of both of you. He was loyal to family, friends and service to his community. There is a project that your dad was passionate about and maybe we could all see it through. He has been trying for better than a year to get the flag on 490 near 390 looking like the one on 490 near Culver Rd. It would be a true testament to his legacy….

  52. Vinny Faggiano on July 16, 2020 at 12:21 pm

To the D’Imperio family, It is a shame that a man who always insured a proper final goodbye for so many others cannot have a proper send off. His compassion for family members who had lost loved ones will never be forgotten by those he comforted in their time of sorrow. I not only saw him at countless events but, I am one of those to whom he brought comfort when experiencing family loss. In the police academy we were told "There is a special place in heaven for police officers". I truly believe this and know that when my time comes Dick will be there to greet me. God Bless Dick and God Bless all of you!

Tim and Anthony, my condolences to you and your families. There are tears as I write this, for your father was my mentor when I was assigned to Engine 2 in 1980. I was lucky to have been on one of the busiest engine companies, in one of the best firehouses in the city throughout the ‘eighties.’ The camaraderie, ‘brotherhood’, dedication, we’re all characteristics of your father and what he invoked. I recall fondly the days when he brought his boys to the firehouse, and I knew then, it was destined to be both your careers. Dick was my ‘brother.’ Thank you, dear friend, for the memories.
