Richard A. Bom Thursday, September 29, 2022, at age 80 went home to be with the Lord. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Karen; devoted daughters, Cheryl (Jeffrey) Schwertfeger and Amy King; his grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Justin and Noah King, Chelsea (fiancé, Connor Brokaw) and Tyler Schwertfeger; many loving family and lifelong friends. Richard was born in West Seneca New York. After graduating from Erie County Technical College Richard relocated to Rochester to start his career with Eastman Kodak Company. Richard retired after 42 years at Eastman Kodak Company as a product engineer where he proudly worked and was afforded the opportunity to travel globally. Throughout his life, he was an avid collector of Lionel Trains and enjoyed traveling to train shows. Richard had a love for Golden Retriever and Beagle dogs. After retirement, he enjoyed genealogy and having breakfast with his fellow Kodak retirees. He was actively involved in his grandchildren’s lives; enjoyed watching their sporting events and was very family oriented. He loved spending quality time with Karen and was very attentive to her. His family was everything to him and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Richard’s visitation will be held Saturday, October 8th 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM where his Funeral Service will follow at 2:30 PM at VAY-SCHLEICH & MEESON 1075 Long Pond Rd. Private interment, Woodlawn Cemetery, Orchard Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in his memory. Karen, sorry to hear about Richard’s passing. We had some good times together going to train shows in York Pennsylvania. RIP Rich.
First I want to express my sympathy to Karen and her family. Dick and I worked together for many years at Kodak in their X-ray business. We had good times and became good friends. After Kodak we went to breakfast once a month with other friends and colleagues from Kodak. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Jim Bolthouse

Dick was one of my favorite ‘guys’ at Kodak. He valued my opinion and always had such a positive attitude. He always seemed to remember something from the previous time we met and it would usually bring a laugh or two. I am glad to have worked with Dick. Just a humble and great guy.
I remember Dick from Kodak. A great guy and co-worker, quick to laugh and patient…I probably tried his patience a lot! My sincere condolences to Dick’s family and friends.

Dear Karen and family. Unfortunately, I cannot attend Dick’s services this coming Saturday but wanted to let you know that he will be remembered and missed by all of his work colleagues and friends within the Kodak Health Imaging Division. Beginning in 1974, Dick and I partnered-up to introduce a series of reduced silver x-ray films to our customers. The two of us traveled extensively throughout the US doing customer evaluations to ensure the positive performance of the new products. Not only was he a joy to work with here in Building 6 but also our road trips were memorable. He was the epitome of a sales engineer in working with customers as well as our Technical Sales Representatives in terms of being straightforward and helpful. We engaged in this significant product endeavor for several years and became very good friends. You are very fortunate have Dick as a member of your family. Dick Bom was a gem!
Dear Amy and family, I am so sorry for your deep loss. You are in my prayers. I know one thing about him is that he helped raise two wonderful daughters who are making a difference in this world.
