Rochester: Unexpectedly, February 13, 2011 at age 41. David is predeceased by his grandparents. He is survived by his parents, David and Pat Rist, Sr.; children, Tyler and Isabella; brother, Scott Rist; many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; dear friends. David was a Deputy with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office for over 16 years. Friends may call Friday, 4-8 P.M. at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, Greece Chapel, 1075 Long Pond Road. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Deputy Sheriff Association, 167 Flanders Street, Rochester, NY 14619 in his memory.

Dave and Pat, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I will always remember Dave fondly. Tyler and Bella will always need their ‘nanna’ and ‘pappa’. I know you will always be there for them.
Dave and Pat, Sam and I are so sorry for your lose. Dave was like our third son and we loved him dearly. We are in Florida and can’t come to the calling but know that we will be with you all in spirit and have prayed for him since we heard the news. I knew Dave from Greece Olympia High School. I so very sorry.
I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love.
I was so so sorry to hear about the loss of your son. I know how important your family and your sons in particular are to you and your husband. I send my heartfelt sympathies to you and your family. A loss this great is more than difficult and enduring. I wish you peace and the comforting knowledge your beliefs can bring you through this grieving process. I am so very sorry for your loss.

Pat and David, I am so very sorry for your loss, but by no means should any of us ever forget that God is in charge of everything. After the loss of my mother it took me some time to realize and understand what I already knew. My condolences go out to Tyler and Isabella. Scott and family – may your wonderful memories of Dave help you through this difficult time. I know I have some pretty awesome ones. I have heard so much about you all that I feel like I know you, he spoke of you all so often. Dave was a very special person.
Scott, I shed tears of sorrow when Allison told me of your tragic loss. My heart goes out to you and your parents, as well as the other family members, especially to those precious children who lost a father. May the Lord be with you all, heal your pain, and be with you and comfort you in the coming days.

To The Rist Family – God chose such a special person to become one of His angels and although his being gone from us on earth leaves us with sadness he is in a peaceful place. You will be in my prayers for the days, weeks and years to come. To you, Dave – Thank you for all of the wonderful memories from high school, jr. prom, and just hanging out, until the last message you sent just a few weeks ago, you always made my days brighter.
