Although I only knew Mo for a short time, it was like we were colleagues for a long time. He was warm and approachable and a dedicated team member at Unity Hospital. I will miss him checking in on the Admitting team everyday to see if we were ok. He was genuine and cared about people. He was a proud Dad and talked about his daughter often. Seems like God calls good people home sooner than we would like. Rest in peace my friend.

Although I have only known Mo for a short period of time, I feel like I have known him forever. He made sure that we were all more than good at work. Any concerns or problems, he jumped on it to make sure that there were no longer a problem. My deepest condolences to the family and friends. Mo will be greatly missed by me. Rest In Paradise Mo

I’ve known Maurice for years now. We worked together at Unity but in no way was he just my co-worker. He was my Friend, He was my Mentor, He was my Family. He was the one who called me for the job and interviewed me. We hit it off right then and there and I look back and listen to his voicemails that are saved on my phone and they go from being very formal. "Hello, this is Maurice DiBenedetto." to "Hey Buddy, it’s Moe." When I got promoted to one of Rochester Regional’s offsites he never forgot about me and would come up and see me and chat for a while. We had a friendship that you wait a whole lifetime for. He was first to wish me Happy Birthday and we would send funny memes back and forth. When it was around his birthday, he downplayed it and I told him laughing, "We’re going to Dinner for your Birthday and don’t think you’re going to get off the hook on this one." It was a wonderful dinner together and I teased about making the wait staff come over and sing. Or there was a Hibachi place we both liked so we’d zip over and pick up dinner and hang out at his house and watch whatever was on television. He gave me a lot of Wisdom about Life, things I still think about especially now. He would come up to the offsite and if a light was out or something was amiss, He would ask me about it. “Why is this light out?” and I’d reply, “I don’t know Moe.” He would give me a look and tell me “This is Your House.” I took that advice to heart and became even more involved and made a point to take greater care with things because of his faith in me to step up and be the leader he knew was inside me. He is always going to be with me now and I am going to miss him every single day going forward. It’s truly unbelievable and quite remarkable how someone can come into your life and inspire you and make you a better person just by being in it. That was Maurice in every sense of the word. Thank You Moe for being a part of my life and always believing in me. You were not the hero we deserved but rather the one we needed.

James Shaw I first met Maurice (Mo) while working security at the Rochester Museum and Science Center (RMSC) where Maurice was a security officer. I worked at the RMSC during the time Mo was a Security officer there. Mo took his job seriously and was one of the best security officers we had while I was employed there. Mo was a team player and always there to help. Mo could be difficult at times but he was a loyal friend. My condolences go out to his family and his daughter Sarah. Rest in Peace my friend PMR

Maurice and I met as kids when he first came from Italy. He lived 4 doors down from me on Norton Street. One of the neighbors brought him over to meet me because I was the same age and spoke Italian. We went to school together at Annunciation on Norton Street and served as altar boys together. Summers were spent all over the neighborhood riding our bikes, playing at Norton Village playground and hanging out with the kids of Annunciation. Although we did not see much of each other through the years, we did keep in touch vis Facebook and in the last few years before Covid, we reconnected and saw each other on several occasions when the boys from Annunciation class of ’77 got together for lunch. He was a kind soul and I never recall him having a bad word to say about anyone. Moe, you will be greatly missed and we will always keep a place for you at our boys lunches/dinners and especially in our hearts.

I cannot wrap my head around why Maurice was called to be an Angel in Heaven. It’s always the Good Ones who are called too soon. He was such a warm and loving spirit here with us, and he will be missed. My prayers are with his family, and for him. Love you Mo, May God Be with You. Charina, Unity ED

Maurice, a great co-worker and friend to many. We shared many laughs about your NY Giants and my Cowboys over morning coffee. When we spoke last week he told me to tell all his Unity family that he loves you all and you’ll be missed by him. He says his Flag in his office could now be lowered, I said it will always be flying. He says to tell all my friends at Seibold Security thanks and John was great coming in at all hours. Charles from St.Mary’s tell him his next BK whopper was on him. He thanked me for giving him a chance and believing in him to be able to do the job that he loved so much. Lastly he says I’ll do my best to help you fill all your job vacancies. Again Maurice always looking out for all those he loved… You be missed, until we meet again buddy.. Paul Donahue

    R.I.p. moe moe …..

  22. Mike Myers on April 22, 2022 at 1:41 am

Although Moe and I worked at different locations, he at Unity and I at St. Mary’s, he and I would talk often. Whenever we both participated in a training class together, we would hang out together and catch up on what was happening in our lives as well as joke around with each other! Moe was easy to be around and was a wonderful person. Although I left St. Mary’s in late November of 2021, Moe took the time to call me on my last day of work to wish me the best and that we would see each other again soon. Now I say that to Moe, I miss you brother, you were a wonderful person who I will miss dearly and will always think about and now I say to you my dear friend, we will see each other again and until that day comes, you will be in my thoughts and in my heart! Rest in peace my dear friend. Heaven is now a better place with you there! God Bless you!

I met Mo at the RMSC 30 some years ago. He was a standout guard and a neat person to talk to. He was helpful and always willing to lend a hand. He also lived not too far from us on Lawton St. He would pull in our driveway and we’d yak of this and that. I’m glad to have known him and will always remember his semi-sideways smile as in the picture above. Rest easy Mo, ’til we meet again.

Mo, when I heard about you’re passing, it was hard to believe. I thank the Fred Rogers for passing this on to me. We had some great talks just about life in general at the Rochester Museum and Science Center. I will be great full for our friendship always! Now you’re an Angel with God, free from all human ailments that you had. Rest in peace my friend! God Bless!

I’m so saddened to hear of Mo’s passing. When I returned to Unity after a few years away, with a face mask on and all he recognized me immediately. It was great to be able to catch up and from then on he always made it a point to stop by the office to say hello. I’ve missed his presence already. Rest in peace my friend.
