GREECE: Suddenly, Friday, April 20, 2007 at age 88. Mary past away peacefully after a rich and full life. She is predeceased by her husband, John M. Morphy and good friend, Bill Buffin. Survived by her loving children, John M. Morphy, Patrick T. (Molly) Morphy, Eileen (John) Bendixsen, Peggy (Tom) Beaty & James (Karen) Morphy; grandchildren, Tim, Elizabeth, Jaime, Matt, Kelly, Becky, Tom, Dan, Dave & Leila; great-grandchildren, Joey & Taylor; several nieces, nephews and cousins; many friends. Friends may call Monday 4-7 P.M. at the Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated, Tuesday 11 A.M. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 36 Armstrong Road, Rochester NY 14616. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mercy Church in her memory.
A beautiful lady with a smile that would light up a room. What a pleaure to have had her in all our lives and have her share many of the moments with the Beaty family. She was loved and will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Morphy family as they celebrate the many, warm and happy memories of this beautiful Irish lady. A long, long time friend and neighbor on Cloverdale Rd. What a sweet lady, full of life and a ready smile for everyonel I count her as ine if the bkessings of my life.
Hello, I am very sorry for your family’s loss. I feel very lucky to have had Mrs. Morphy as my third grade teacher at Our Lady of Mercy way back in 1976 or so. She remains one of my all time favorite teachers. I will always remember her reading Charlotte’s Web aloud to our class a few pages, a day at a time. She always left us wanting to hear a few more words, and kept us coming back to find out what would happen to Charlotte and her barnyard friends the next day. I am pretty sure she managed to string out the story over a large part of the schoolyear, and used that treat to motivate us to finish our other schoolwork, just so we could hear her bring those characters to life. I will always cherish that memory. I think of her often when I am reading an especially good novel. She definitely taught us the joy that reading can bring to us!!!! What a wonderful gift she was to us!!! May she rest in peace, and I wish your family peace as well. Sincerely, Tim Walker
I had dinner last fall with John, Pat and Jim. John, Pat and I grew up together with Jimmy arriving a few years later. We had not seen each other for a long, long time but when we met it was as if we had never left the Desmond -Cloverdale corridor. We spoke of our youth which included numerous parental stories. We all took great joy in going back and remembering. I hope that all the Morphys will remember all the great moments they had with their mom. Our deepest sympathy to you all. God bless you all. I had the priviledge of being Mary’s neighbor for 24 years (Battaglia’s house). I don’t think I have ever met a sweeter/nicer person in my life. Cloverdale Road was missing something when Mary moved to Fleming Point, now the whole world is too. I will never forget her wonderful spirit. Rest in peace, Mary. Carol
I met Mary Morphy at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Mary was always loving and caring. She was just a terrific person. She will be missed very much. There is no question she is in Heaven with Almight God.
I remember Mrs. Morphy from my days at Our Lady of Mercy School. I recall her kind, graceful manner, bright smile, & token blue eyeshadow! She was my brother Tim’s 3rd grade teacher. I was known as Tim’s little sis but she always treated me as well. Mrs. Morphy touched a lot of young lives. May the Lord give you comfort & peace. God bless.
It is with great fondness that I remember Mrs. Morphy. She was my third grade teacher at Our Lady of Mercy School in 1967. Always gracious, kind, and soft-spoken in the classroom, perhaps planting the seed for my career path as a classroom teacher. In 1999, when my mother passed away, Mrs. Morphy came to the visitation. You can imagine my surprise. We had a wonderful chat. She still had that gleam in her eyes that I’ve always remembered, and of course, that incredible sense of personal style! My condolences to your family on the passing of such a wonderful woman. God Bless.

Mary and I taught together in the 1970’s, and though it has been years, I well remember her kindness and good humor with the little ones of the ‘P-U’. Mary always had that Irish twinkle in her eye, and her conversation was sprinkled with the names of her children and other family members. More recently, I was pleased to have had Mary entrust me with the sale of Cloverdale, and in that process, I saw again how devoted to family she was. Mary was a role model for women, for parents, for teachers and for members o the community. I am proud to have known Mary Morphy.
Mary was an angel to our family. When mom joined our creator and Dad could not longer drive, Mary came into Dad’s life- she was his special friend and companion that lit up his life. They prayed, traveled and attended Morphy and Buffan family events together. They danced into their 80’s and truly enjoyed life together. We were so fortunate to know Mary and enjoyed breakfast with her a few weeks ago -catching up on the Morphy grand and great grandchildren.
My condolences to Mrs. Morphy’s family and loved ones. What a bright, beautiful and warm spirit she had, and continues to have, and shine on the world! I am honored to say I was a student of hers, as well, in her third-grade class at Mercy. I associate her forever in my mind with the color robin’s egg blue, and her eyes twinkling over her glasses at the class as she talked and read to us! I remember going on a long family vacation to S.C. that year. She took the trouble to design special assignments for me to document the trip with my own writing and pictures. What a great lady…

To the family of Mary Morphy, We were very sad to hear of Mary’s passing. We knew her for many years at OLM. Mary was a shining example of God’s joy and willing spirit to serve others. Our entire family will miss her and her smiling face. May she enjoy the happiness of her eternal reward
We just had a card from Mary this week. She was always thinking of others. A very lovely lady with always a smile on her face.
We were so blessed and honored to have Aunt Mary at our wedding last January in Florida, it meant so much to us that she could be there. We will miss her. Our thoughts and prayers to everyone.
