Mary Lou V. Scherner Henrietta:  Monday, November 29, 2021 at age 84 went home to be with her son, Frederick R. Scherner and son-in-law, Douglas Thompson.  She is survived by her children, Catherine Thompson and William Scherner; granddaughter, Erin ( Nicholas) Kolenko; dear friends. Mary Lou was an active member, a secretary and visitation of St. Marianne Cope Parish and a secretary for Genesee Hospital.  She enjoyed crocheting baby blankets for donations at the church as well as making afghans for those in need.  She loved to travel with her friends and enjoyed weekly get togethers playing cards and games.  Her personality was infectious, she always put others before herself,  never complained and taught her family the reason we were put on this earth was to make others happy.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Mary Lou’s celebration of life will be held Friday May 6, 2022 at 1:00 PM in All Seasons Chapel at White Haven Memorial Park.  The family requests casual attire.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Marianne Cope Parish 3318 E. Mary Lou was such a help as we established a Visitation ministry at what was Good Shepherd parish. She helped train others to visit the hospitals and organized that part of the ministry. She made me a lovely afghan when I married my husband. She will always be remembered fondly. So sorry for your loss.

I only knew Mary Lou for a short time frame when I visited her at her home.Covid interrupted the visitation so I hadn’t seen her in well over a year.I am not sure if I knew how instrumental she was in initiating visitation ministry at GS since I went to St.Joseph’s.Now the avid knitter part I knew. What a lovely person! You could tell right away that she was good hearted.I will miss our visits.May you be comforted in you mourning by Our Lord knowing that Mary Lou is at peace.
