Rochester: Mary Jane McLaughlin Angelone peacefully passed away on May 13, 2026 at age 82 while receiving hospice care at Edna Tina Wilson Living Center. She is predeceased by her husband, David J. Angelone, in 1984, her parents, James T. and Anne Scranton McLaughlin and her in-laws Dominick and Josephine Angelone. She is survived by her brother in-law and sister in-law, Joseph and Marlene Angelone, her nephew, Mark (Julie) Angelone, their children Roman and Renzo and her niece Amy (Mark) Crocker, their children Lena (Anthony), Mark Dominick, Rose, Andrew and their grandchildren Leon, Angelo and Mila. She is also survived by cherished first cousins in Connecticut, beloved cousins in Rochester, and much loved friends.
Mary Jane was born and grew up in Manchester, Connecticut and was a graduate of Manchester High School and Boston College. She taught in elementary school for a few years in McLean, Virginia and Groton, Connecticut until she and her husband moved to Rochester, NY in 1967 where she remained for the rest of her life.
Mary Jane was one of the last of the law clerks to be admitted to practice law in the State of New York in 1979 without having attended law school. She had clerked for her husband, a lawyer, who became severely disabled a year after they were married. She assisted and cared for him until his death. She then took over the practice and maintained it for over 30 years until her retirement.
Mary Jane enjoyed time spent with her loving family and friends, her beloved book club, vacations at Point O’Woods Beach in Old Lyme, Connecticut, and all of her travels whether they took her to far away places or to interesting locations near home. Keeping in touch with high school and college classmates brought her joy and there was always much laughter and storytelling when old sailing friends gathered. She was a long time member of GRAWA and appreciated the friendships that resulted from her membership. She was known for her Christmas Letters (4 typed pages, single space, with hardly any margins) and loved it when someone asked to be on her Christmas card list.
The family would like to express thanks to the staff at Edna Tina Wilson Living Center that cared for Mary Jane with such love and dignity during the past couple of months.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Edna Tina Wilson Living Center or Holy Cross Food Pantry where Mary Jane volunteered for many years.

Maryjane and I became friends as freshman at manchester high school. I went to BU and she BC so saw her a bit in boston. We kept in touch through our high school reunions and then through phone calls and emails throughout the years. We started emailing and texting more after we were retired and also met up in Connecticut a few times in later years. I loved her Christmas Letters. I will miss her so much! She was filled with energy and told many stories which I loved to hear.
I only knew Mary Jane for a few weeks but we clicked right away. We shared several family stories, smiles , laughs and hugs. I only wish I could have known her longer. She was a charismatic individual and I feel privileged to have met her. Mary Jane I feel you with the wind!!
MJ and I met in book club, 10 years ago. I loved her wit, ready laugh and ability to find joy, even in very dark times. Her resilience is a wonderful role model for us all. I will miss her and wish her well up in the stars.
