Marion Jean Skinner Strait, 98, passed away peacefully Monday, December 5, 2016, at the Mt. Carmel House in Hilton, NY. Marion was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Bernard (‘Bernie’) Strait on Dec. 11, 2004. Marion and Bernie met in high school in Oneonta, NY. She also attended Oneonta State to get her teaching degree however WWII interrupted. Bernie and Marion married just before he left to be part of 390th Battalion Army Air Corps stationed in Framlingham England. They would have celebrated their 74th Wedding Anniversary December 5th, 1942-2016. Marion and Bernie built and maintained the Plaza Court Motel for 32 years in Geneva, NY. She is survived by her children Pamela (Strait) Biemiler-Cherry of Maggie Valley, NC, Cheryl (William) Strait-Haley of Greece, NY, Steven (Jane) Strait of Sudbury, MA and Gary (Barbara) Strait of Canandaigua, NY. Nephews, Robert Skinner of Port Crane, NY and Charles Skinner of Hammondsport, NY, and niece, Pat Skinner Osgood of Mansfield, TX. She also leaves 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren whom all adored her and her vibrant personality. Marion loved her family and having fun with them. Laughter was abundant when Marion was around. The funeral service will be held Thursday, Dec. 8, 10 AM at the Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Chapel, 1075 Long Pond Road, Greece, NY. Followed by her burial with Bernie at the Temple Hill Cemetery Associaion, 111 Temple Hill Street, Geneseo, NY . Condolences can be shared at www.MeesonFamily.com. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mt. Carmel House. 288 Frisbee Hill Rd, Hilton, NY 14468, would be graciously accepted and appreciated. Never forget to laugh!

    It’s always devastating when you lose one of your life’s anchors. She was a lovely, classy lady; I can’t ever remember her without a smile on her beautiful face. I bet her and Bernie are up there smiling down on the rest of you. Cherish the memories!

    Cherie, Bill and family—–so terribly saddened to hear of the passing of your wonderful Mom. She was a truly warm, loving, and classy lady. We ave so many great memories of her—all filled with laughter. She will be forever missed.

    To All of the Strait’s, very sorry to hear of this tremendous loss to your Family! Your Mom was always a bright spot to be around. Her laugh, which you could count on, always made me smile. May the memories of both your Mom and Dad fill your hearts over the Holidays and forever!
