Marie’s earthly journey ended in the same way she lived her life, with unwavering faith, dignity, and grace. On August 9, 2025, just 11 days before her 98th  birthday, she was peacefully summoned back to her Creator. Marie was predeceased by her loving husband David, her parents, Frank and Frances Stock, her grandson Ryan, and her son-in-law Jim Hauser. Marie is survived by her children, Thomas & Nicole, Lawrence & Fiona, Frances & Jim Sweeney, Paul & Claudia, Catherine Hauser, David & Jayne, Peter, and Susan & Steve Leach. Marie’s adoring grandchildren will miss their Grandma Rie deeply: Alexis & Ryan Duquette, Jason, Patrick & Kelly, Meaghan Sweeney, Courtney, Colin & Jenny, Tyler & Sarah, Sean & Tana, Kayleigh, Ian & Aimee, Kelsey, Sarah & Shawn Rooney, Hannah & Julia Hauser, along with their children, Marie’s great-grandchildren, Gavin, Brody, Hayden, Kamden, Mila & Ryan, Brayden, Mason, Emma & Tessa, Jack & Rowan. Marie leaves behind her beloved sister, Sally Eckert, her life-long friend, Sister Marie Michael, SSJ and special niece & nephew, Patty & Darrell Loomis. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and dear neighbors.

Mom dedicated her life to her family, her fierce Christian faith, and to her churches (Holy Redeemer, St. Charles Borromeo and Our Mother of Sorrows). Marie was a Registered Nurse and volunteered for the Red Cross for over 20 years. She played the organ and piano for many years at various churches, along with serving on many committees at church and her children’s schools. Marie & Dave were active in the social justice causes of their time. They tried to live their lives in the likeness of Jesus. Both volunteered at overnight shelters and up until Dave’s illness in 2009, you could find them many mornings delivering surplus food to Rochester area food cupboards.

Marie was an extraordinarily generous woman who selflessly gave from her heart and always placed others ahead of herself. She befriended many along her life journey and believed in making a difference for all. She was never afraid of a challenge or taking a stand for what she believed in.

Marie was an excellent cook, but an even better baker. She had a special brand of magic; people seemed to instantly connect with her when they met her. Perhaps it was her positive attitude, welcoming spirit or that dazzling smile!

Although we are heartbroken by Mom’s passing, she had a long, wonderful life as a faithful servant. As we reflect on the many blessings given to us, Marie Teresa Stock Moriarty is at the top of our list! We are forever grateful to the exceptional caregivers at Hamilton Manor Nursing Home who provided wonderful care and made Mom’s final chapter dignified and safe.

Friends may call Wednesday (August 13th) from 4-7 pm at Vay-Schleich and Meeson, 1075 Long Pond Road, Rochester, 14626. Marie’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by her former paperboy, Fr. Robert Werth, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 3003 Dewey Avenue on (August 14th) at 11:00 AM. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations in Marie’s memory may be made to the Bath VA Medical Center,  Attn: Voluntary Service, 76 Veterans Ave, Bath, NY 14810.

Aunt Marie was a loving, caring lady. We were always treated to something warm from the oven, a big beautiful smile, and often an invitation to swim, stay for a meal, come by for a visit. She was one in a million and we will all miss her very much. Heaven has a new angel today!

Aunt Marie was such a warm, kind woman. I know that everyone she met was better for knowing her. She will be missed, but now the whole gang is together in heaven.

What a beautiful spirit and special person. Stacy and Lisa Bell loved her and always enjoyed any time that we were able to spend with her while we were in Rochester. Our prayers are with the entire family.

Fran – What a beautiful obituary. I feel you have many of the same attributes as your mom. May she rest in peace. Laurie

You were a special part of our neighborhood and I’ll never forget how she cared for my rist when I put my hand through the front glass door, or the many times Susie and I would lock ourselves in the cabana playing hide and seek and she would tell us to unlock the door, I’m sure Jesus is saying well done my good and faithful servant!!!

Marie and Dave were truly a blessing in our lives. They made moving into the neighborhood feel like we were family. They both lived with faith and conviction. Rest in eternal peace Marie.

To The Moriarty Family, I am deeply saddened by the passing of your mother, grandmother, aunt and cousin.
I fondly recall seeing her many, manyntimes throughout my life and each time I would see her she would call me Jimmy and giving me a big hug. Whether it was in my youth at baby showers of my aunts or other family members, which my Mom hosted, family weddings, including mine, family reunions or at church she treated me like I was special and in my mind that made her special. I didn’t know until I was a teenager that she married into the family. Her mother-in-law Grace, was my grandfather’s sister. Up until that time I thought her and Corrine (who also treated me very well) were sisters and that was the connection to our family.

Fast forward to the last few years, I was in a golf league at Deerfield. As I went to check in to get a cart, as I would always ask how she was doing, either Dave or Paul would give her a call so that I could talk with her. We would always have a good conversation. She was a special person to me!

It is my hope that your memories of her, are as special to each of you as they were to me and that they will help sustain you during this difficult time.

May she Rest in God’s everlasting Peace.

    Jim Schoeneman
