Spencerport: Maria Katherine Eichas, Suddenly and tragically, June 2, 2024 at age 18. Maria was predeceased by her grandmother, Dorothy Harris. Maria is survived by her parents, Scott and Jennifer; her brother Sam; grandparents, Jerry and Leigh, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends. Maria was to be a sophomore at the University at Buffalo studying engineering, though her passion was music, creating, playing, and performing. She loved sharing her words through her songs. She was a loyal, caring, and compassionate person always thinking of others before herself. She loved and was loved beyond words.
Friends may call Sunday (June 9th) 4-7 PM at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 962 East Ave, Rochester, NY 14607. Trisagion Service held at 7:00 PM. Her Funeral Service will be held Monday (June 10th) 10:00 AM at the church. Interment to follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Brockport NY. In lieu of flowers please donate in Maria’s name to a charity close to your heart.

Dear family of Maria. Our hearts are holding you tight. There is nothing as painful as grieving your child. Our son passed unexpectedly in February and this loss will forever change you. I met Maria as a 9th grader and I was the new JV basketball coach, I was then extremely lucky to have her as one of my first captains on varsity. Incredible in so many ways; as a person, student and in her leadership. I am thinking about the family at all times. I am so sorry
Although I didn’t personally know your family, my grandson graduated with Maria. I can’t even imagine what your family is going through. I heard that Maria was an outstanding young lady and she was at that place to pick up kids as their designated driver. 💕. I know your hearts are broken but I pray that In time, your wonderful memories of times with her will bring you some comfort. 🙏🙏🙏

Jen and family, I am incredibly sorry for your loss and the unimaginable pain you are experiencing. This quote by Hans Christian Andersen seems so fitting right now: “Where words fail, music speaks.” I know Maria was a beautiful musician. And music has such a profound ability to conjure up all sorts of emotions. Within seconds of listening to a song, we can feel despairingly sad, pumped up and excited, raging mad, silly, joyful, etc. My hope for you is that you can heal through Maria’s beautiful music, that her voice speaks right to you in the songs she wrote and performed, and that you can allow yourself to feel any and all emotions that come. Because they are all valid and all have a role in the healing process. I pray that her music fills you with peace and comforts you with so many amazing memories.
