Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute
February 17, 1957 – November 15, 2025.
Rochester, NY: Margaret Paone Brunner passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on November 15, 2025, at the age of 68.
She is predeceased by her parents, Lewis Paone and Rosalie (Drago) Paone.
Margaret is survived by her children, daughter Emma Brunner; son Brendan Brunner; stepdaughters Jennifer Dion and Neysa Brown; longtime partner, Donald Walter; sister Mary Nobes (Michael); beloved dog, Cooper; as well as her many nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews, and cousins.
Everyone knew Meg to have a generous, caring and kind heart. She was a social butterfly. Everywhere she went there was someone she had to stop and talk with; whether it was her regular customers from Wegmans, coworkers, friends, family, her kids’ teachers from years past or parents of students her children went to school with, she had to stop and talk with them. At her home in Chili where she raised her family in, you could always find her either tending to her flower gardens or sitting on the porch watching the birds and wildlife, always ready to talk with anyone that might have walked past.
Later in life, after she retired from Wegmans after 40 plus years of service, she found a new home away from home in Myrtle Beach, SC. There she would spend the winter months with family, childhood friends, and strangers from all over that quickly turned into cherished friends. Meg enjoyed her time in and around the pool chatting and laughing with her core group; spent quieter moments on the balcony that overlooked the ocean with Donny as their dog Cooper would sunbathe at their feet. Every day was a new adventure, whether it was trying a new place to eat or go shopping, somewhere to watch live music, or weekly gatherings at their local trivia spot.
She will be remembered for her sense of humor, smile, thoughtfulness and the way she was always able to make friends everywhere she went.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff we had the pleasure of meeting while caring for Margaret over the past year at the Aurora House of Western Monroe County and Strong Hospital and the Wilmont Cancer Center.
Friends may call Tuesday (December 2nd) 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Vay-Schleich and Meeson, 1075 Long Pond Road, Rochester, NY 14626.
A private interment will be held for close family and friends in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery on Wednesday, (December 3rd) at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Margaret’s memory to the Aurora House of Western Monroe County or the Wilmot Cancer Center through Strong Memorial Hospital.

RIP Meg, you’ll live on forever in the hearts of our beautiful children. They were a rock for you until the very end. 🙏♥️🙏 I couldn’t be prouder!
Meg you were the shining light in the ceramic class. I was always happy to see you and your smiling face. I had absolutely no idea that you were sick with cancer. You never let us know that you just let us know what a wonderful lady you were. After closing the shop I miss seeing everybody but out of that group I missed seeing you and Blanche the most when you stopped coming. You were both the highlight of my day and by far my favorite students. I always talked about getting down there to Myrtle Beach and it never happened and I’m sad because I think we would’ve had a blast. Rest in peace sweet angel you will be missed, but the memories of you smiling and happiness will always remain with me. My condolences to your family. This is a very sad time.
