Lloyd was a true gentleman of a great era. It was always fun to play Euchre with him & Evelyn in Pine Island Cove ~ they taught me a lot about the game!!
God’s Blessings on Evelyn & their families
Tracy im so sorry for your loss
Our condolences to Evelyn and also Lloyd’s family. We met Lloyd and Evelyn at a Red Wings baseball game at Innovative Field in Section 109, many years ago. Lloyd and Evelyn were season ticket holders in Section 109, as were we. Lloyd was an avid baseball fan and we became quick friends. We always had a good laugh at the team’s coaching decisions (like leaving a pitcher in that couldn’t throw strikes). Lloyd knew the players better than the coach and wasn’t afraid to tell him so. My wife and I, and Conehead (Tom Girot), will truly miss him.
Lloyd was a great boss, he was my first Foreman in the coating dept. Thoughts and prayers to the family!
The Veterans Outreach Center extends our deepest sympathy in Lloyd’s passing.
We acknowledge and are truly grateful for is service to our country.
I had the great honor of discovering Lloyd through my father‘s World War II letters. My father frequently wrote about his best friend that he meant while Training at Scott Field before deploying over overseas. I learned so much about Lloyd through my dad and the letters he wrote about him 80 years earlier. I decided to try to locate Lloyd, and after six months of trying I found Laurie Dysart who put me in touch with Lloyd. Without Laurie‘s help none of this would have been possible. I will always be so grateful to her for the connection between our families.
Amazingly, both my dad and Lloyd were alive at 99 years old- two remarkable men separated by 80 years, yet still very much themselves. Being able to reconnect them after so many years was one of the most remarkable experiences of my life. I did several TikTok videos about it. A story of friendship and history that has touched so many people.
For the past year and a half I have been blessed to know Lloyd personally. We spoke often on the telephone and he shared memories, kindness, and stories that brought my dad‘s letters to life. My father passed away, just a few months before Lloyd. Both men living long, full lives, showing the enduring power of connection.
I will always treasure the chance I had to thank Lloyd, to hear his voice and to witness a friendship come full circle after eight decades.
Lloyd was always so helpful to my mom and dad (Mildred and Murray Brown) as neighbors on Briarcliff Rd. Fond memories of Scott and Tracy as well. God bless!
Lloyd was a wonderful man and will be deeply missed. It has been a pleasure to get to know him over the last four years. Deepest condolences to Evelyn and his family.
