Lily’s warm friendly smile was a sign of her kind supportive personality. She cheerfully offered her assistance to others. She was skilled at using her listening abilities to truly connect with others. Her upbeat personality and sunny smile drew people to her. Born in 1924, she was the fourth child of John and Elsie Daniels. She enjoyed her childhood in Brooklyn, New York with her older siblings Al, Carol, June and her younger brother Joe. After graduating from New Utrecht High School, she moved to Rochester, New York. Throughout her life family was important to Lily. Moving to Rochester with her widowed mother and youngest brother Joe, enabled her to remain close to her sister Carol and family. Lily worked in many aspects of the banking industry. Apart from working with financial institutions, she worked for a brief time as an airplane riveter, during World War II. She participated in an active social group sponsored by the Y, and met her beloved husband of 59 years, Lloyd. They were married on St. Patrick’s Day, 1951. Following the birth of her son, Rick, she devoted her energy to being a full-time wife and mother. Lily and Lloyd completed their family with two daughters, Pat and Diane. The couple were founding members of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Greece. Lily was part of the Aldersgate Ladies Guild. She also enjoyed sharing her love of gardening and flower arranging with her friends at Shorewood Garden Club. Lily displayed her creative skills in pottery and sewing as well. She was an avid bird watcher and loved being out doors. Lily loved spending time with family. She truly enjoyed her two grandsons, Karl and Erich, and granddaughter, Jessica. She took an active interest in the boys varied activities such as scouts, soccer and ski racing. As Jessica was growing up, Lily had fun playing cards with her. She was treated to delicious meals and desserts prepared by Jess. She was proud of all of them as they graduated college and worked in the medical field. During her final years she was lovingly cared for by family. Rick devoted his time to care for her at home. Later when Lily was a resident of St. Ann’s Community, Rick and Diane brightened her day with daily visits. She enjoyed frequent visits from her niece, Peg. Calling hours are March 24th from 4 -7. March 25th 10 – 11. Funeral service will follow at 11. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
