Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute

Rochester:  Saturday, January 25, 2025 at age 83, went home to be with the Lord. She is predeceased by her loving husband Richard of (59) years.  Beloved mother of Cheryl Schwertfeger (Jeffrey) and Amy King, grandchildren Chelsea (fiancé, Connor Brokaw) Schwertfeger, Tyler Schwertfeger, Justin King, and Noah King.  She is survived by sisters Judy (Kemp) Miller and Janice (Richard) Corcoran, nieces, great niece, great nephews and lifelong friends.

Karen was born in South Buffalo, New York to Margaret (Schultz) and Samuel Osborne.  A graduate of Bryant and Stratton College she married her high school sweetheart, Richard.  Karen worked for Eastman Kodak Company and the Greece Police Department.  Most rewarding to her was taking care of her family and spending time with her grandchildren.  She was actively involved in their lives.  Her passing leaves a deep void.

Karen was an avid reader.  She loved Golden Retrievers and Beagles and was a steadfast supporter of Lollypop Farm and Guiding Eyes for the Blind. She had a flare for decorating and took great pride in her home.  She and Rich enjoyed taking vacations, antiquing, and mostly spending time with family and friends.

Friends may call Saturday (February 15th) 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM at Vay-Schleich and Meeson, 1075 Long Pond Road, where her Celebration of Life will follow at 2:30 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel.  Private interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Orchard Park, New York. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society at Lollypop Farm in her memory.

Amy and Cheryl – my sympathy to you both in the loss of your mom. Karen and I were friends from our Sunday School days at St. Simons, through our high school days in West Seneca and later standing up for each other in our weddings. I miss her.

Cheryl, Amy and the Bom Family. We have enjoyed having Rich and Karen as our neighbors for years. We are sorry for your loss of Karen. We intended to attend her viewing and celebration but Mike has recently had surgery and I now have medical problems. Karen and Rich are in our thoughts and prayers. Sincere condolences, Mike and Ann Wyrough
