Greece: Tuesday, February 8, 2011. Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Stella; his wife, Claudia. Survived by his step-children, Scott (Linda) Barnard, Kim (John) Sklenar; grandchildren, Cori Lyn and Jarod Ray Barnard, Andrew John and Jenna Ray Sklenar; beloved family and friends. Friends may call Monday 4-7 PM at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road, Greece Chapel. His Graveside Prayers will be held Tuesday 12 NOON at Calvary Cemetery, Binghamton, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association in his memory.
Joe, For taking care of my mom the way you did makes you a Saint alone!! To be such a wonderful guy as well just confirms it. I will miss talking with you about the old times and what went on when you were ‘younger’. I will miss the ice cream cakes on my birthday and the times at the lake. I will miss the way you were such a natural fit into our family.and how all of us grew to care for you very much. I will miss your calm demeanor and through your actions how a real man should behave. No, you were not my father, but when Dad passed away, I don’t think Larry could have picked a better replacement than you. We will all miss you!!! Say Hello to MOM and DAD for me.
Joe, you were always such an integral part of all of our lives. You will be missed by so many. We have so many happy memories to sustain us. God speed, dear cousin.
