Thanks for being the best brother in law a sister could ask for.

Thankful for your kind and generous heart ♥️ Our kids love their Grandpa Remmel! One in particular will forever have fond memories of your kind texts and of you calling her “dear granddaughter”. So glad we’ve been able to create some memories with you in NY too! This is not goodbye… rather we will see you later!

Dear Georgianne, My heart goes out to you and your family, and I hope the memories you share of Jon’s laugh and infectious smile will comfort you in the coming days. I worked with Jon for 30 years. During that entire time he called me "rookie" and I called him "old timer". Jon was a terrific friend and comrade. He will be miss! In sympathy, Zina Lagonego

I worked with Jon at the City for many years. His quick wit, jovial attitude, sly smile and unforgettable laugh were just a few attributes of a man who performed his job with professionalism and courtesy. I became aware that Jon was once a pilot in the Air Force and served during the Vietnam conflict which garnered an instant respect from this veteran. You never walked away from a conversation with him wondering what he was attempting to convey as Jon was a straight-forward individual. People of his caliber are few and far between. He will be missed but remembered fondly. My condolences to his family.

I worked with Jon even before we were employed as City inspectors. We framed homes in Greece way back in the early ’70’s. May Jon now be doing the greatest inspection ever, in the Kingdom of Heaven, surrounded by God and His angels and saints. Hopefully, Jon will issue a Certification of Occupancy and not give anyone a tough time! Rest in peace old buddy! Mike McBride

I remember Jon when we were classmates at John Marshall High School. He always had a great attitude and was a good person to be around. I lost track of Jon when we both went into the military but years later while I was working in the city we crossed paths once again. He still had that outgoing persona and infectious laugh. He will be missed.

I remember jon from champlain st. When we were just little boys. We both got in trouble for walking to plymonth ave. We were friends that drifted apart. But then we both moved to the 10th ward and met again. Jon came to my service station when it got hit to inspect the damage. I know in my heart we will meet again. God bless my friend.

We are so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts are with you. Joe and Mary Musso. Will never forget your trips to Vegas especially the one where Joe took you on a tour that included the town dump on your side of the car. RIP you will not be forgotten.

John was one of Rochester’s finest, a dedicated public servant, hardworking but always had time for a smile and friendly greeting. . Sincere sympathies to Georgianne and children. Carolee Conklin

Jon I will miss our banters back and fourth during football season but I’m sure you will be giving me hard time from above. I will miss our conversation that we would randomly have. Thank you for everything!! You will be missed!

I remember Jon from Holy Rosary and Aquinas and even saw him after he went to Marshall. He had a quick wit and we had some great conversations. He was always his own person, an admirable trait in any person.
