John W. Ward

Springwater, NY: July 16, 2013 at age 82. John is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Kae Thompson-Ward; children, Martin, James, Thomas, Carolyn (Lori), Bradley ‘Sam’, Steven, David & Eileen Ward; grandchildren, Michelle, Ashley, Trish & Melissa Ward; siblings, Robert, Kenneth & Kathleen Ward; many dear friends. John is predeceased by Marilyn & Eleanor Ward. John is a Veteran of the United States Army and proudly served our country in the Korean War. He retired from Eastman Kodak Company in 1987 as a research physicist and product designer. John was Founder and President of the Rochester Lapidary Society, School Board President of Honeoye School District and a Boy Scouts Troop volunteer. In his spare time, John enjoyed raising 8 children, Lapidary (cutting of faceted gems), avid rock hound, his 1953 & 1964 Corvettes, Chess, collecting guns and restoring his 1952 John Deere tractor. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. John’s visitation will be Saturday, July 20th, 9-11 A.M. at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, Greece Chapel, 1075 Long Pond Road. His Funeral Service will be held following visitation at 11A.M. in Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Canadice NY Historical Office, Canadice NY 14560 in his memory.
