John Waller O’Grady passed away peacefully after a long illness at the age of 85 on July 18,2017. Born in Rochester on May 3, 1932, John was the oldest child of the late Frank and Marie( Cody) O’Grady. He was predeceased by his infant son, James John and sister Mary Beth Sigismond. John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sara, children Kathleen ( Michael ) Snyder, Timothy O’ Grady and Kevin ( Dawn ) O’Grady.; grandchildren, James Snyder, Holly Snyder, Kirsten O’Grady, Michael ( Lauren ) O’Grady, Alicia O’Grady and sister Mary Agnes Corey; several nieces ,nephews and dear friends. John ( Walt as he was known to many ) honorably served in the Navy. After returning home, he married Sara and raised three children in the town of Gates. A hard working husband and father John was retiree of Davenport Machine and Tool. He enjoyed his retirement years in the great outdoors. Camping, hunting, fishing and boating were favorite passions. We will miss him greatly. John’s visitation will be held Saturday, July 22nd, 9:30 AM-10:30 AM where his funeral service will follow at 10:30 AM in the chapel of Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Rd. Interment, Holy Ghost Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, Kidney Foundation or Kirkhaven Nursing Home.
