Mt. Morris: June 14, 2011 at age 55. John passed peacefully, while comforted in the arms of his loving wife. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, M. Christine (Apelgren) Dack; children, Derrick Dack, Spencer (M.J.) Mastin & Jessica (Brian) Dack; brother, Harold (Donna) Dack; nieces and nephew, Corey (Denise ) Dack & Holley (Shannon) Dack; mother-in-law, Marilyn Apelgren; sisters-in-law, Ellen Bowen, Carol Ann (Steven) Scheg, Susan (Frank) Poggi & Gretchen (Ruby) Cicero; beloved pets, Sasha & Rascal; many loving nieces and nephews; many great friends. John is predeceased by his parents, Mike (Tina) Mazur; father-in-law, Carl E. Apelgren; sister-in-law, Erica Apelgren. John is a retiree of Genesee Brewery and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Friends may call Thursday, June 23rd, 5-7 P.M. at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, Greece Chapel, 1075 Long Pond Road. His Memorial Service will be held, following visitation at 7 P.M. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held privately.

John was a special person to us even though we have been out of touch for a long time. No one can take our memories of this ‘special guy’ from us. Dear Harold, Donna, Holley and Corey, I am heartbroken over your loss…. I know that John loved life and was a part of us. Uncle John, We all miss you so much already! Sitting around with the family telling so many stories makes me miss you even more. So many fun times out at the house driving the truck in the back, jumping off the duck shed, bouncing on the water bed mattress in the pond and playing in the field!! it is 2024 and i got the opportunity to meet your daughter. she is a light in the world. jess lifts people and she connects people, she’s got an unmatched warmth and hilarity. i imagine she’s very much like you and that you are very proud of her. please look after her, and all of us still here walking the earth. world’s been rough lately and we could all use some sunshine breaking through the clouds.
