Greece: December 16, 2016 at age 86. Predeceased by his wife, Ellen M. Dorris; parents, Mitchell & Tana Dorris. Survived by his loving children, Edward M. Dorris & Elaine M. Dorris; longtime companion, Bev Troiano; dear friends. John was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was coach of Kodak IMC softball team in the 1970’s, a longtime softball official and managed umpires for many years. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. John’s visitation will be held Tuesday, December 20th 4-7 PM at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home 1075 Long Pond Road, Greece Chapel. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday 9:30 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church 3003 Dewey Ave. Private interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. John attended all of our family festivities with Bev. We so enjoyed his smile and laughter. What a nice man he was. We are so sorry for your loss. May he have eternal peace. We will miss him.
John was my close friend since 1954 when he and Ellen moved into the house on our street. In later years, he would bring me some of his wonderful tomatos. I spent an hour with him on Thursday, and was shocked to see that he passed away on Friday. I will miss him and his laugh when we got together.
