Joann was a friend to all, an animal lover and a perfectionist. I don’t know anyone who loved Halloween more than she did so it was fitting that she left us on that day. I worked with her at the Animal Service League. She ensured that all the animals had clean bedding, that the cages were vacuumed and that the floors were mopped daily. She was also the most generous person I know and gave you anything she had. She was a great friend. She was very courageous from the time she found out that her cancer came out of remission late last year. She was so organized that she even made all her own funeral arrangements. I remember one day in August when I visited her at home, she asked, ‘Linda, do you want to hear something real morbid’. I said no thanks Joann. She laughed and said I wrote my obit last night. Joann was a true friend and I miss her dearly.

Joann worked for me as a house cleaner for a couple of years when my kids were little (about 18 yrs ago). She was funny and witty as well as a hard worker. Over the years that I knew her she became a friend as well. She was a very giving person and also, a cat lover, like me. I lost track of Joann over the years but managed to find her a few years ago when I learned about her illness. I had great hopes that she would recover. I am very sad to learn of her passing. Always a believer and a strong Catholic, I know she is with the Lord now. My condolences to her family.
