Joan M. Schmidtmann

Joan Schmidtmann Rochester: passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 30, 2021.  She was born April 23, 1932.   She is predeceased by her husband, Werner.  She is survived by her sons, William (Karen), Carl (Rita) and Eric (Sharon); grandchildren, Andrea (Josh) Kulp, Frank (Lena) Schmidtmann, Erin (Jon) Purington, and Eric Schmidtmann; great grandchildren, Abigail, Nathaniel, Lyra, Calvin and Jasper. She was a retired RN.  She volunteered for Greece Volunteer Ambulance, the American Red Cross, Special Olympics, and Swain Ski Patrol. As a nurse, she worked in high risk obstetrics and geriatrics. She also had personal experience as a breast cancer survivor.   Her background made her a fierce advocate for women’s health. She was a proud grandparent and was happy to show pictures of the grandkids. She was also a voracious reader and always had a book with her. She will be greatly missed.   Friends may call Friday (Oct 8^th) 4-7 PM at Vay-Schleich and Meeson, 1075 Long Pond Road. Private Interment.
