Joan E. Thornton

Thornton, Joan (Meinhardt) Greece: Died December 9, 2015 after a well fought battle with lung cancer. She grew up in Sodus, NY and Rochester. After attending Wilson College in PA returned to Rochester where she had a long career in the Greece school system as a teacher, administrator and principal. In her retirement she spent time in Naples Florida. She loved reading, the arts, traveling with family and friends, and spending precious time with her grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Bruce, and her parents. She is survived by her children, James (Carol), Kimberly (John), Lisa (Mark); her grandchildren, Matthew, Stephanie, Vincent, Nicholas, John (Michelle), Elizabeth; sister, nieces, nephew and many dear friends. A celebration of her life will be held on December 19th at 2:00pm at Messiah Lutheran Church in Greece. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in her memory to a charity you believe in.
