Dear Karen, I want you to know you and your girls are in my prayers and will continue to be for a very long time. I am at a lost for words and just want you to know that I’m thinking of you! Although I didn’t know Jim well, he always took the time to talk to my Grand-daughter Gianna when we would take walks past your house. One time he was taking the garbage out and she was riding her bike and asked him if he had a bike and before you knew it – they were engaged in a long conversation. I will always remember that! I can only pray for God’s comfort and peace to surround you all. Sincerely – Deb

I used to work with Jim in Bldg. 205 when I was the HR Director. Jim and I had a lot in common over our love for the Adirondacks where we now have ahome in Old Forge. In fact, I saw you folks in Inlet a couple of years ago at the craft show. Jim was always there to help and customer service was first and foremost in helping others. For a few years, my wife Kathy worked with Jim in Easter Region. My heart goes out to the family. I know no words can replace Jim, but I am sure the good Lord will take care of him. Karen, My prayers are with you and your family. Please accept my condolences. I’d like to share this beautiful poem that was shared at my uncle’s funeral: Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free. I’m following the path God has laid you see. I took his hand when I heard him call. I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day. To laugh, to love, to work or play, tasks left undone must stay that way. I found that peace at the close of the day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joys. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss. Oh yes, those things too I will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full. I savored much, good friends, good times, and a loved one’s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and peace to thee. God wanted me now; He set me free. Author unknown

  63. Donna Conway on September 28, 2012 at 12:00 am

When good men die, their goodness does not perish. -Euripides Jim’s goodness will clearly never be forgotten. He was a man of ambition and devotion who’s legacy lives on. Foremost in my mind was Jim’s dedication to making Autumn Lane an even better place. Not many teachers can say that their class had a ‘Room Dad’ named Jim Kelly. I am one of the fortunate ones who can. I appreciate the support he provided for Jean during her Kindergarten year. I especially appreciate the support he provided for all of the children of Autumn Lane. As PTA President he meant business…but, he did so with humor. The bricks that lead the way to our playground are a fitting rememberance to all he did for the students at Autumn Lane. Watching the kids run across the bricks toward the playground brings about an even bigger smile on my face as I think about Jim and how his hard work made the playground a reality. How fortunate we were to have the ‘Kelly Team’ on our PTA. The charisma, humorous banter and vision made each meeting not only effective, but entertaining. Even more so, were the ‘after PTA get-togethers’. With a chuckle in my heart I will never forget the time Jim walked home in the dead of winter from Molly Malone’s one very early Thursday morning after a PTA meeting. As was Jim’s nature, he didn’t want to put any one out, so he snuck out the back door and walked home among the snow drifts and stars. This story goes to show that Jim was well rounded; he was focused and determined yet, knew how to have fun! Jim was fine example of what it means to be a husband, father and friend. He will be missed! With Sympathy and Friendship – – Donna Conway
