Rochester, NY: passed away peacefully on Monday, February 8, 2021 at age 91, with her family at her side. Jeanne was originally from Wilkes-Barre, PA, and graduated from Coughlin High School. She married Charles Peter Lysiak in 1951, and the following year moved to Rochester. Their family grew to six with the birth of their four children. The years brought many joyful events, including marriages and thirteen grandchildren, followed by fourteen great grandchildren. Jeanne became a legal secretary in the Patent Department at Kodak Offices in Rochester, NY. She was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and loved to share her excitement of their ups and downs with her children and grandchildren. She was a great cook, and for many years the Rochester families gathered on Sundays at the Lysiak house for family dinners, followed by many rounds of Euchre. Jeanne was active in her home parish of St. John the Evangelist in Greece, as a Eucharistic Minister, a Lector and in social ministries. Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Peter Lysiak; her parents, Andrew and Mildred (Sabestinas) Kostrab; her brothers, John (Elizabeth) and James Kostrab; her sister, Bernadine (Albert) Miller; her daughter-in-law, Gail (Kirvan) Lysiak. Jeanne will be remembered by her sister, JoAnn and Richard (Kostrab) Emanski of Florida; her four children, Janine and Richard Lesser of New Hampshire, Mary Ellen and James Ryan of Garden City, NY, Paul and Lauren Lysiak of Rochester, NY, and Robert Lysiak of New Hampshire; her sister-in-law, Antoinette Kostrab of California. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday (April 10 th) 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist in Greece, NY.  Private Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Sisters of Jesus Crucified, Our Lady of Sorrows Convent, 261 Thatcher Street, Brockton, MA 02302.

I want to send my deepest sympathy to Mary Ellen and the entire Lysiak family for the loss of Mary Ellen’s mom. I understand her passion for euchre as my mom of 93 plays euchre with passion and lives in Greece, NY and also lives near St John’s church. I feel their paths have crossed over the years without them realizing my friendship with Mary Ellen. I never had the pleasure of meeting Mary Ellen’s mom but with all those grandchildren and great grand children I know she will be dearly missed. Deepest Sympathy Tish Dwyer

My heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the entire Lysiak family for your loss. I have fond memories of Jeanne and will never forget her kindness in including me to spend the holidays with her family back in the day. She was a great cook and always prepared so much good food for the holidays for her family. Now she is reunited with her dear Charlie. Sincerely, Linda Covington

Our thoughts and prayers with all of Aunt Jeanne and Uncle Charles children, grandchildren and great great grandchildren. We had so many wonderful holidays and gathering over the years. One of my fondest memories was three weeks ago when we discussed over the phone on how the Bills defense was going to stop Kansas City and Patrick Mahomes. God Bless! Terri, Kaila, Logan and Jeff
