Jean S. Monk
Greece: Sunday, September 20, 2020 at age 93. Predeceased by her husband, Alfred. Survived by her son, Thomas (Patricia) Monk; daughter, Bonnie Jansen; grandchildren, Leslie (Aaron) Allen, Jessica (Joseph) DiBattisto, Erica Jansen (Vanessa), Peter Jansen; great-grandchildren, Carson, Peyton, Madison and Mason; loving friend, Bob Palmer; many loving family and dear friends.
Jean was a breast cancer survivor and most recently defeated COVID 19. When she was still able, she enjoyed reading, playing euchre with her friends and going out to the movies and lunch. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Jean’s visitation will be held Wednesday, September 23rd 4- 6 PM at Vay-Schleich and Meeson 1075 Long Pond Road. Private interment, Riverside Cemetery. Tom, Pat, Leslie, Jessica and family, I was saddened by the news of Jean’s passing ! She was a wonderful person, and I have found memories of her as my bowling teammate many years ago! My deepest heartfelt condolences to her entire family!
I cannot tell you how sad I am, only that I am typing through sniffles & tears. Jean Monk was fastidious and kind and generous to a fault. Like my mother, when she was able she always “looked like a million bucks,” as did her modest little home in the suburb of Greece. She took the time to teach me to make her scrumptious seven-day sweet “icicle pickles”, and made the meanest pecan pie in town, nearly always fashioning one if she knew I was coming over. We shared laughs, and gossip, and our mutual troubles, usually over a meal or a ride in the country. And most often an Abbott’s frozen custard. We played cards as partners for almost 20 years, and trimmed her Christmas tree together. Her only-ever complaint came if her soup or coffee wasn’t hot enough to scald. God bless you and keep you, dear old friend and (euchre) partner. I will so miss our Wednesday lunches and your bright-eyed, sharp-witted companionship. Godspeed … you were a good and faithful servant. And a friend whose memory I shall always cherish.

RIP Aunt Jean. I always loved our family get togethers. If you and Uncle Al were not there, it was not the same. You two always completed the gathering.
We were so sorry to hear of Aunt Jean’s passing. She was always a Lady and I remember how much she loved to play cards when we went on the family picnics when grandma and grandpa were alive. Although we are in Florida we will keep her family in our prayers during this difficult time.
