Rochester: Sunday, January 26, 2025, Jean passed away at the age of 87, peacefully and with family by her side. Jean is predeceased by her parents, Chester & Emma DeLutis; her sweetheart, Almerino Pappano. She is survived by her children, Ellen (Chuck Senges) McCarthy & Glenn Brian (Liz) McCarthy; grandchildren, Madeline & Miles McCarthy; sister, JoAnn Anderson; nieces, Kimberly Morse, Tessa Anderson; nephew David Anderson; cousins and dear friends.
Jean earned a Master’s Degree from Geneseo University in Speech Pathology. She worked for Boces and Hilton Central Schools for over thirty years. Jean was a devoted mother who enjoyed spending time with family; especially her two beautiful grandchildren Madeline & Miles. She loved traveling over the years to Europe; especially Italy and Paris. She enjoyed living on Lake Ontario and watching the Thursday afternoon Regatta while listening to her favorite sound of the purple martins. Jean was a proud member of the Junior League of Rochester. She especially enjoyed being a part of the Garden Club and took pride in her yard on the Lake. She was an avid reader and visited the Library weekly despite the new Kindle she had hidden away in a new box somewhere. She looked forward to her morning coffee enjoying the waves while doing her daily crossword puzzle from the D&C. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Breast Cancer Research Foundation in Jean’s memory. Our family would like to thank the staff of Unitly Hospital especially Dr. Robb; you are a wonderful, compassionate man who mom adored. As well as the Palliative & Hospice Care teams on 4400.
Friends may call Friday (January 31st) 4:00-7:00 PM at Vay-Schleich & Meeson, 1075 Long Pond Road. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday (February 1st) 11:00 AM at Church of the Annunciation, 1760 Norton Street. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Jean was a wonderful person who kept things very simple, with the exception of her love for family and friends! Her heart was very compassionate and steadfast.
Jean will be missed for her positive attitude and the time she set aside for people.
I can’t imagine any advice to share that may easy your heavy load from your body, mind and soul. God Bless us all as we don’t know the day or the time will leave this world and go home and be with God the Father. Amen

Dear Ellen, very sorry to hear of your Mom’s death. I know how much you enjoyed traveling with her especially to Europe. May God give you strength to navigate this very painful time,
A century ago WH Auden wrote- “you were my north and south, my east and west” but in time, you will feel that her star will always shine.
Most warm regards, Ravi
