Jean A. Lawson

A long-time resident of Greece, NY, passed peacefully of natural causes, on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.

Born 92 years ago in Rochester, NY. Jean spent her career as an ardent educator. Teaching was a passion for her. She took great pride in educating her young students and watching them succeed.

Jean loved to travel, read, and garden. She explored her love of music, art, and flower design throughout her life.

Jean had an infectious smile, a loving heart, and a beautiful laugh that enveloped a room. She was an aunt, great aunt, and great-great aunt. She loved being in a room with all three generations. She was a woman who treasured her deep friendships.

Jean was predeceased by her parents William and Monica Lawson, her brother John J. Lawson, and sister, Marie Andrews. She is survived by her nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the dedicated and loving staff of Laurelwood at the Highlands, Pittsford, NY.

No prior calling. Private Internment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to JDRF, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

Such a beautiful soul and the best aunt a guy could ask for. You will be missed.

Jean definitely was a special lady and it has always meant the world that she welcomed me with open arms as I joined the Lawson Family. There are many memories of the times spent with Jean, but my greatest memory was having the opportunity to play the piano for her 90th Birthday Party. I still remember the look on her face when she arrived and heard live music being played…just for her! As the party progressed, she sat down on the bench next to me to enjoy the music and then asked me to play "You Raise Me Up" and "Wind Beneath My Wings". From that day, anytime I play these songs, I always think of Jean and the little sparkle in her eye as she sat with me.

My dear, beloved, forever friend…my world has gone tilt since January 6 when you headed home. I miss you inexplicably and, at the same time not at all because I feel you very close. Thank you, Jean, for always exuding kindness, gentleness and strength into this wounded world of ours. You always told me how grateful you were for our nightly phone calls. There are no words sufficient enough to express my gratitude for those connections. Rest…really Rest In Peace my friend!

Rest in Peace, my friend. I got to know Jean as a fellow teacher at St. Louis School in Pittsford. I was just entering the profession and found the first years hectic and often overwhelming. Jean was such a calming, encouraging influence on me; for that I am very grateful. Jean always had a ready smile and I loved to hear her laugh. My deepest sympathy to her family.
