JANET T. DAVIS 1930-2020 Rochester: Janet passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 due to complications of the COVID-19 virus. Predeceased by her parents, Frank and Ruth Davis; sisters, Ruth Mary Davis, Barbara Davis; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Richard Mahns; brothers, Rev. Francis R. Davis, John E. Davis. As a devout Catholic, Janet was a faithful parishioner of Holy Rosary, Immaculate Conception and Sacred Heart Cathedral. She attended Holy Rosary grammar school, Nazareth Academy, and Nazareth College where she studied social work. After 40 years of social work providing protection to countless children and their families, Janet retired to her family homestead where she enjoyed working in her garden and attending daily Mass. She especially loved to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays with her sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Dick Mahns and her many nieces and nephews. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no calling hours. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at a future date at Sacred Heart Cathedral. A private interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery was held on Friday, June 26, 2020.
I am very sorry to hear of your loss. I remember Aunt Janet as a warm, generous and sweet lady. It is very nice to read the loving tribute and know that she had a life that sounds very rewarding. My condolences to her friends and family.
I was a supervisor at the Monroe County Dept. of Social Services in the late sixties, and had the privilege of having Janet in my foster care unit. She was the consummate social worker, skillful, dedicated, even loving, towar her clients, whether foster parents, children in care or biological families. Truly a gift to all of those she served!
I am so sorry to hear about Janets passing. I will always remember her beautiful smile and gentle personality. On my many visits to her sisters house Ginny Mahns, we shared so many happy times. Prayers to all her many family members who she was so proud of and loved dearly.
