My heart is heavy these days since the passing of a man who treated me as his own child. For 33 years I called him "Dad" and was so proud when he called me his daughter-in-law for the first time. He knew my mother for a time before she passed and was a gentleman and they both shared a mutual respect………….she would always tell me and Karen, "take care of that man" as she saw him as a protective father figure. He did not get to know my father but seemed to have a real sense of him when he saw the work my father did at our family home……..he always said, " I sure wish I could have met Tony." To quote a word from a poem our families came from different "shores" however, in things that mattered such as having respect for family and assuring the feeling that he was a father that would always answer their call when needed. Both he and his beloved wife Dolores gave me the luxury of having two sets of parents………Dad and my dearest Karen taught me the many pleasures of nature and being on or near the water….he even made me a special seat on his inflatable boat!………..We shared soooo many times on vacations, shucking clams and drinking beer and playing too many to count euchre games just laughing and enjoying the spirit family can being to the table. The memories will live on in my heart with the firm belief that the spirit lives on. We will all meet again but for now I know he is especially busy reuniting with his long love and great wife and mother of his children Dolores. I am sure my mother will greet him and he will finally get to meet Tony and then say………" I wonder what the poor people are doing." I wish him to rest peacefully now, knowing the good memories will live on and the sometimes hard and long journey of earthly life is over and he is finally "safe home."…………with much love and respect of course to my Karen and to all of my second family…………….Paula
