Greece: Friday, June 24, 2016 at age 90. Predeceased by his wife, Marion Schmitt; son, Richard Schmitt; sister, Marie Dibley. Survived by his loving and devoted children, Mary Schmitt, Robert (Mary Ann) Schmitt, William (Paula) Schmitt, John (Karen) Schmitt, Jim (Debbie) Schmitt, Michael (Deeann) Schmitt, Cathleen (Michael) Cardillo, Brian (Kim) Schmitt, Barb (Jeremy) Donath; 51 grandchildren, great-grandchildren & great-great grandchildren; brother, John (Jane) Schmitt; sisters, Betty (Bob) Miller, Peggy (Vincent) May; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Schmitt; loving family and dear friends. James was a veteran of the United States Navy and served our country in WWII. James was passionate about music, singing and a member of the Liederkranz Club. He loved his beer and playing golf. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. James’ services will be held privately in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
