Our deepest sympathies to all of cousin Irene’s family. I will always remember as a young boy receiving a birthday card from her addressed to ‘ Master Walter Reemtsma, in her unique linear style of penmanship. Through the years she would always remember my birthday and I considered it not being my birthday until I got her card. I will miss receiving them in the coming years.
Irene was the most gracious, lovely and sweetest woman. One of my first friends at FBBC. I am praying for all. She will be missed.

So many memories…the prayer times, the visitations, the dinners you shared with so many; new people that would come to church, you & Mike would invite their entire family over regardless of the number. Our trio-The many hours of practice-I have tapes still of the services…precious memories. Heaven is rejoicing to have you in the Heavenly choir, praising our Lord & Saviour.
We are so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and yours.
Miss Irene was a light to our family. Such an encouraging lady with a smile that never went out. We treasure the memories of our picnics to Niagra Falls during the summer and the many Holiday dinners spent at your house, and always the music that followed. She was even gracious to let us watch a little football. May God grant your family strength during this time of grieving.
This is the first that I heard of the passing of Irene (Mrs. Mateyka to me). I was a young fella when I knew Mrs. Mateyka growing up on Westerleigh Rd. back in the sixties. Even as a young boy (unconverted at the time), she impressed me with her friendly, smiling character. I always liked visiting her home because of that attractive disposition. Well some 50+ years later the hearing of her passing evokes fond childhood memories. I am now a Christian having been converted by the dear Lord nearly 42 years ago and knowing that one beautiful morn yet to come we will all again rejoice in a far better place. To the family, may the gentle touch of the gentle Savior be yours in the days ahead.
