Ian Allister Williamson

Ian Allister Williamson (Willie) age 89 passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025.  Beloved father of Cheryl Lydia Fisher (Ronald) and Bruce Drysdale Williamson (Ruth); predeceased by his brother Captain James Williamson (Doris).  Ian is also survived by grandchildren Katelyn Duna Becker (Braden), Ethan Bradley Fisher and Maxwell Ian Williamson along with newly born great granddaughter Ila Hale Becker.  He was dearly loved by his brother’s family.  He received his BA degree from Johns Hopkins University.  He was a long-time resident of Wappingers Falls, NY.  Ian had a 35-year career at IBM Poughkeepsie in Large Systems Product Assurance and then held several technical leadership roles in Development and Product Engineering for multiple generations of IBM System Z mainframe servers.   He was a devout Christian and an active member of the Freedom Plains United Presbyterian Church participating as a Deacon and a leader of the Finance Committee. Ian was an avid golfer, a longtime season ticket holder and supporter of the Marist Red Foxes basketball teams, an “armchair participant” in many sports, and a sports aficionado of the highest order.   His children are grateful for the aides and nurses at Wegmans Cottages at Unity in Rochester NY where he resided the last few years. 

His Memorial Service will be held at Freedom Plains Presbyterian Church, 1168 State Route 55, Lagrangeville, NY on June 20^th at 11:00 AM.   In gratitude, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or Wounded Warrior Project.
