Herman J. Klingenberger, Sr.
September 14, 1930 – January 20, 2023. Predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Helen. Survived by his children, Herman, Jr. (Ruth), James (Mary), Thomas (Karen), Elaine (Edgar, Jr.) Begy and John Klingenberger; along with 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, June Gray of Richmond, VA., 5 nieces, 1 nephew and several cousins.
Herman was the owner of Klingenberger Land Surveyors for 22 years.
Herman’s visitation will be held Sunday 1 PM – 4 PM at Vay-Schleich & Meeson 1075 Long Pond Road. His Funeral Service will be celebrated Monday, January 30th 9:30 AM in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment, Falls Cemetery. As a plan reviewer with the Monroe County Water Authority (now long retired), I worked with Herman for many years and always enjoyed the experience. He was highly professional, friendly and upbeat. My condolences to the family. Be well.

My condolences to the Klingenberger family. I knew Herm from the late 60’s until I retired from my law practice. Worked with him on many projects & he was always a pleasure to deal with.
Thanks to Herm, there was an increditably strong bond between he and I throughout our shared childhood. We were constant companions and we never, ever had a fight. Every summer for 32 years, he helped organize the Klingenberger Family Reunion and we always had a big turnout. Rest in peace, my dear lovable brother.
I was so blessed to have had Mr. Klingenberger as my other Dad!! I’m so grateful that you and Mrs. Klingenberger (my other Mom) had Elaine to be my BFF since the day she was born!! You endured our shenanigan’s for so many years probably rolling your eyes a lot with our silliness!! Sending all my love and hugs to all of you at this time.
On behalf of the Monday Duplicate Bridge Players at the Greece Community and Senior Center, I extend our sympathies to Herm’s family. Just like the photo, Herm was always smiling and pleasant. He last played in 2020, but we miss him.

Herm provided me with a start in this civil, municipal, site, survey, design and construction industry in which I work today. Starting out doing perk tests and then meeting up with the survey crew, I obtained much experience quickly. I remember that Herm liked the fact that I had taken a class from his colleague Bill Larsen with whom he worked prior to starting his own business. Herm was an "nth exemption" land surveyor, which meant he could do some forms of engineering in addition to land surveying. I was intrigued by that status but came to find out that the ability to gain that exemption was no more and the only way to go from surveying into engineering was to get an engineering degree. So I hunkered down, did that, got my license and broke off on my own in 1995. I appreciate Herm giving me that start in land surveying because you really can’t be much of a civil engineer if you don’t understand the metrics of land. My sympathies to his family. Many of you I remember from times in the office on Buffalo Road or Scottsville Road back in the day.
Herman was a pleasure to have as a neighbor and we always enjoyed bantering about worldly and local events. Herman is missed as a good neighbor and our hearts go out for your family’s loss of a good father and grandfather.
Herman was a wonderful role model/leader as a scout master in our troop 138. He gave up 100s of hours of his life to many youths so we could have a great life experience in the Boy Scouts. God bless you Herman and thank you for the wonderful memories

I was looking on the Internet for Jim and found this. Sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. We lived in the Brockport Village from ’82-’96. I think Herm did the survey. We found out that our neighbor had planted a tree over the property line & then added a fence. We had to deed a sliver of land to the neighbor. It’s a funny story to tell and remember 30 yrs later.
