Greece: Herb died peacefully at home on November 8, 2014, at age 75. He was the son of the late Herbert and Lillian Lester of Brockport, NY and was predeceased by his sister Nancy. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 51 years, Margaret Mary (Farrell), children Kristin (Ray Hernandez) Lester-Hernandez and H.J. (Jennifer) Lozy-Lester, grandchildren Rebecca, Michael and Carolena Hernandez and Patrick, Sara, Kelly, Owen, Amanda and John Lozy-Lester, sister Patricia Tan, sister-in-law Jackie Farrell, cousins Beverly Wooton and Sue and Ron Harling and several nieces and nephews. Herb graduated from Brockport High School and then the Rochester Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Accounting. He enjoyed working for Rochester Products, a division of General Motors, for 37 years. He was proud of his service with the United States Army and Reserves from 1961-1968. Herb was an active member of Our Mother of Sorrows Parish and contributed his accounting skills to the Finance Committee for 25 years and was also a Eucharistic Minister, Usher and Festival Worker. Herb most enjoyed spending time with his family and often expressed gratitude that his children lived only a few miles away from him. In his retirement, he loved being a full-time grandfather, ‘DA’, who was fully involved in the daily lives of his nine grandchildren. He enjoyed family trips and get-togethers, euchre, ping pong, bowling, croquet, an occasional Brandy Manhattan and following the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, Syracuse Orangemen, Kansas City Royals and PGA golfer Joey Sindelar. He will be remembered by his family for many things including his upbeat disposition, resilience in the face of an extraordinary 20 year battle with cancer and a constant willingness to do anything for those he loved. We wish to give special thanks to the staff of Unity at Home and VNS Hospice for their excellent care of Herb. The Lester family is creating a memoir and genealogy of Herbert J. Lester and requests that you consider submitting written memories, photographs, and genealogy information to contribute to the memoir. These can be submitted during calling hours or after the funeral or can be emailed to Jennifer Lozy-Lester at lozylester@yahoo.com. Thank you in advance for your thoughtful contributions. Margaret, HJ, Jennifer and children. Herb was a fine gentle man. Though he has now departed, the memory of his character lives on. May His peace be with all of you.

Margaret, As a fellow Rochester Products worker who interacted with Herb on a not so regular basis, I always looked forward to working with him. His respect to all and his outlook for life made all the encounters with him worth every minute.
My deepest sympathy to all of you for the loss of such a wonderful strong man.

So sorry for your loss. Herb was a good friend and classmate at BHS class of 1957. We were also at RIT and in the Army Reserves at the same time. We had some good times. He was a fine gentleman.
